I'm not quite sure why reviews mention rude service by the owners, we had completely different experiences. It was our first time visiting, both owners were running the show, both are long time Appleton natives. We were delighted to learn that profits, to include tips, are given to nonprofit organizations within the community. The service, the wine, and our lunch entres were phenomenal. I'd have no hesitation bringing any friends or family to this establishment in the future, and I reckon that I will.

Support local! I almost didn't go because there were so many negative reviews, but we LOVED it here and will be going back again and again. I brought my almost 2 year old and I met with a friend. We were there for a few hours and ate out on the deck. The owner/manager was constantly coming and checking on us. She also was checking the vegetable/fruit garden that they have (cool) and bringing my daughter samples from that garden. To the reviews that this was expensive....they have a garden and use the produce to make their food. This is not Starbucks where the sandwiches come to the store prepackaged...You get what you pay for. That being said I thought the prices were excellent. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Support local and come here!!

I will never go back to this place again. The owner is rude and obviously does not value her customers. Our first time at this establishment was during Mile of Music. We placed our food order and then asked for water. The owner charged us $3 a piece for tap water served in a paper cup. I decided to give them one more chance because my husband wanted to go back. I had him place the order because the owner is rude and I did not want to deal with her. When my husband came back to the table he proceeded to tell me that the owner added a 35% tip tax to the bill and this is at a self serve counter!!!!! Lucky I didn't place the order because I would have walked out. Believe me don't go to this place it will truly ruin your mood for the day.

I see now I'm not the only one who had a bad experience here. Wow. I should have read the reviews. The customer service is terrible. I was quickly confronted about the water bottle I brought in as I was trying to place my order. The elderly woman behind the counter said I would have to bring it back to my car. I ordered an herbal tea. She brought out a tea that she chose for me without letting me know what it would be. When I tried to pay with my debit card, she said there was a $10 minimum and that I would have to buy a $10 gift card to use to buy the tea. I wish I would have known this before she made the tea. Since she was already rather hostile and snobbish toward me, I couldn't see myself returning to use the gift card. I told her I would just have to leave then. So bizarre! I've never experienced anything like this. How is this place still in business? It's too bad. I had really been looking forward to coming here after just moving to the area.

Female owner extremely rude. Accused people in our group of bringing in drinks. Actually brought thermoses they wanted to buy coffee to put in them. Owner refused to sell them coffee. When my 80 year old mother-in-law asked for coffee, owner refusedsnd said, “You ordered milk with your lunch.” People were thirsty before our scheduled lunch and we asked for water. We were then charged $38. for tap water. There was no contract or list of room rental rules given when I paid deposit. I later found out that any adult attending my family gathering in the room I rented had to pay $15. Plus tax & gratuity even if they weren’t eating. Any child not in a high chair also had to pay this. The owner watched people from our group as they left to use restroom as a means of counting how many we had in the room for payment purposes. When the event was done, everyone had to wait 30 minutes to pay their bill because the owner wasn’t ready to check them out. The food was acceptable, the location lovely, but none of us would go back after the experience with the unprofessional & rude owner.

I have been there numerous times for meetings because of the quiet, spacious atmosphere. Now I realize why it is so quiet. The host / owner is incredibly rude. I was in the middle of ordering, my phone rang, and she asked me to leave! And when I asked for my soda with no ice, she gave me a little juice glass of soda! I will not give them my business again if I can help it. Very disappointing. After reading many of the reviews, I cannot believe they are still in business.

Never again. We were told upon entering the cafe that we could not sit outside because there wasn't enough room, yet there were four open tables. We were seated in the middle of the room, and were then moved to another table (with no explanation as to why). We had special needs children with us, who were using electronic devices. The owner told them to put the devices away, even though the audio was off. Strangely, the two men allowed to sit outside had laptops open. We had to order at the counter and were asked to tip with our payment. We wanted to order a few bakery items, but were told that they were out of cookies, muffins, etc. We will never go back, and I can guarantee our children will not be future customers either.
