Matsu Sushi

Great spot for quick, pick-up sushi 🍣 Very small place but there is a great selection. Rice bowls, futo-maki, uramaki, inari and hot teppanyaki (though likely just oven grilled). The fish nigri looks a bit sad - thin square slices of stiff pink tuna, but the tamago is very good. It’s self service - you can even put your own topping on (as much or as little wasabi as you like). The staff are really friendly and the place looks clean - lots of outdoor seating but none indoors. The rice is well made and the prices aren’t too bad considering it’s in Victoria Park Market.👌

Would give 100 stars if I could!! I was after some authentic and delicious Asian food for my birthday and this place hit the spot perfectly! The best Mapo-tofu I’ve ever had in my life and a very unique Chashu fried rice that will have me going back for more in the future. The smell of the wok fire wafting from the kitchen as the chef whipped up my meals was divine. I even asked for a takeaway meal after I finished so I could give some to my family. Forget about all those fancy Asian-fusion restaurants with pitiful portions and crazy prices! Come to Matsu for your Asian cuisine cravings and you won’t regret! Even better, you can get their food ubered to your house if you are in central Auckland.
