Ray's Smokehouse Bbq

WOW! We are really late learning about Rays! But this will definitely be our new Bar BQ joint! Like a review I read, the outside isn't pleasing to the eyes, but the inside was very good, very clean and neat. Next time I will eat in! The young man that took our order was very professional. He let us look at our food before bagging it and I must say, presentation is everything! It looked just as good as it tasted! And the peach cobbler, amazing!

Visited Augusta, GA for the first time over the weekend my husband and I. We were headed back to NC late Saturday and decided to stop by Ray's for my husband to grab some lunch after a disappointing breakfast. At first glance of the building it was deceiving of the delicious food that awaits you on the inside. He went in and came back to the truck with his food. Opened it and it looked amazing. He allowed me, lol to taste his ribs which was so tender and delicious and I got a little carried away with his food that it led me into Ray's to order my own. Try It! You will enjoy it as we did. Rib Plate with ribs, mac/cheese/green beans/ Texas toast. Yum, Yum..

I must say this is the best food I have eaten since I've been in Augusta. I am known as a great cook so most people feel my expectations are too high. However I just wanted something fulfilling and I got that today. I wish I had known about this restaurant earlier. Trust me I will be back. The ribs, macaroni and cheese, texas toast, baked beans and peach cobbler is delicious.....I will brag on this....yes indeed. Friendly staff also

My new favorite BBQ joint. The place appears worn out, but looks are Very deceiving. Hands down the best brisket and ribs I've had in years. The sides are fantastic as well (glazed sweet potatoes!). Also tried the 'short ribs' (AKA burnt ends) and so much flavor (little dry, but flavor made up for it). Desserts are creative and not overly sweet. The best part: great prices.

Ray's has the possibility of being great, but he needs to get over the hump. He is too busy to be a one man operation, but too slow to hire help. The food tastes great, especially the peach cobbler (probably the best in town). Sometimes there is a little too much fat in his pulled pork, that is the only negative thing I can say about his food. He has a great flavored BBQ sauce and the place has a nice atmosphere. I hope Ray can get over that hump and be here for years to come.
