Applewood Bar & Grill

Beautiful indoor and outdoor location with views of the Ohio River. New owners are working hard to make this nice. Food is good. Brisket is their specialty. Very moist (which is hard to do). Would prefer a choice in sauces and a little more flavor in the meat. Also some good draft beers would be nice. Overall, I want this place to work, because of the views/atmosphere. Forgot to mention great live music outdoors 8-12 weekends.

Our food was terrible. The waitress was forced to run the whole upstairs and the bar. The salad was so HOT that the cheese was melted! Our appetizers were cold. The shrimp was $14 for 8 pieces. Don't waste your money. The waitress worked her butt off to do her best. The manager blamed the piss poor food on the waitress as if she was cooking the food.

Terrible Do Not Waste Your Time Or Money Here! COLD FOOD, HORRIBLE SERVICE! 4 other couple left after seeing our horrible service! The youngest waitress was more worried about flirting than cleaning up tables, our waitress served three tables that were seated after us, their food before us, we ordered before they even came in. Our food came out cold with out our side dishes. Order of brisket was hard and cold, wasn't enough to put on a bun I ordered the dinner. My girl had ordered fried shrimp that was cold, our order took over forty five minutes. The oldest server was the only one on the floor worth having as an employee. Others bitched to her because she was trying to keep the place clean and keep people happy. We also waited at front door by the sign that said please wait to be seated for ten minutes before walking ourselves to kitchen for service. This establishment is a disgrace to the name Applewood which used to be a great place. I can't wait till they close due to poor service and long wait times. Only one server was doing her job, picking up slack for other two that only care for guest they know. I will never return and going to spread the bad word to all of our motorcycle friends and others we know from between rising sun to cinti, also all poker runs I'm part of. Please read this and don't have them waste your time and money.

Not sure if it was the norm or an off night (considering Trip Adviser's reviews, I'm guessing this is normal) but this was not a great place to go. The live band was 'meh', we saw a server a total of 3 times in the whole time we were there, the bar was so slammed the ONLY bartender on duty was running her own food orders. Patrons jumped behind the bar to help out. I eventually left because we'd only been able to get drink orders in via a server (everything else I went to the bar for on my own) in the almost 2 hours we were there. My sister stayed later and said she didn't receive food until close to midnight. Our group arrived around 8/8:30. The venue itself? Totally fine--large outdoor patio and bar, view of the Ohio River, nice building...but the service was incredibly lacking. Don't waste your time.

Service was fine. They had a wine list but only had 1 wine. Strike 1! I don't like beer! Food came. I ordered the stuffed burger. It was supposed to have mushrooms, bacon, cheese in and on top. Had 1 mushroom and cheese on top. Although it tasted fine, it was missing the stuffing. It was a regular cheese burger for $12.00. Strike 2. Said they have music every night.....except this Saturday. Strike 3! They really missed it beause we used to come over on Friday night with 9 of us. We live in Ky so it is 1/2 hr drive. Won't be back and won't reccomend.

Very disappointing dinner. 20 minutes after placing my order, they tell me they are out of brisket. After nearly an hour waiting on the food, it was cold. Broccoli casserole...had better from a $1 bag from Kroger. Mac and cheese hardly better than Kraft. Lovely setting by the river, nice waitress who ran herself ragged, but the kitchen couldn't keep and sent food out that cold unappetizing and nothing to write home about. I was glad to see the place had reopened, but perhaps this is why it closed the last time. Don't expect to ever go back. Too bad.

Visited for a dinner following a family members wedding rehearsal and every single persons food was cold and disgusting. The owner served the tables himself and took several hours to do so. My mom was told by a worker that she quit tonight because the owner refused to see a customer making a complaint because their food was disgusting too, all because it wasn't worth his time. This owner thought it was unfair that he was confronted regardless of the fact that more than half of the family planned to stop for fast food instead of finishing the cold and disgusting meals. The owner just asked if everyone was "eventually" served and since they were, he did not seem concerned with his businesses customer service. Wouldn't ever consider attending this restaurant again.

This place has set a whole new level of consistent poor service ... actually poor service would imply that you actually was served in the first place ! ... I live very close so it is convenient for a late evening dinner and cocktail but 3 times in a row we have come in around 9-9:30 (not very busy) and have been taken to our table given menus only to never have a server show up ... we are talking 30 min. + , no water, no cocktail, nothing !!! this last time we even joked "do we dare go and be ignored again" we gambled and lost, again 30 min. after being seated not even a glass of water... and again they were not busy so that's not the excuse, I own 2 service based businesses and am not always able to meet customer expectations due to be overwhelmed with work or bad weather so I'm pretty understanding ... but this place has set the bar as low as it can possibly go when it comes to customer service ... BTW we went up the street a few miles to L-Burg Drinks and more and had drinks and menus in under 3 minutes ... from now on I'll drive the 5 minutes and give them my business !
