Houndstooth Coffee

I walked here because it was close to my hotel and I read good reviews on the flat white. When I walked up, the barista was having a personal conversation. I stood there for a bit and then she looked over at me and asked if there was “something I needed.” I said that I’d like to place an order. She addressed me as if I was a vagrant and bothering her. She was fine after that first interaction but it’s certainly a turn-off when your initial impression is not a good one as a paying customer. The flat white was satisfying. I’d return and hope for a better initial interaction next time. The atmosphere is quiet and there are places to sit inside and out.

Houndstooth is a classic coffee shop that has clearly honed their craft of delivering staple coffees. Nothing crazy about this place and the menu is just about as standard as you can get, but don’t get me wrong, it’s good! It’s central location makes it the perfect pit stop during any errands you may be running, plus service was super speedy.

No frills, but just what we needed. 4 stars because nothing pushed me over the edge for 5. I went to Houndstooth around 7:30 in the morning on a Sunday after a night of fun...and drinks. We needed some coffee. I had a dirty matcha latte, which was only okay but did the trick. My wife had a vanilla latte she said was good. We also had a chocolate and plain croissant, both were slightly above average. I'd go back for sure, but nothing blew me away.
