Mckay Cottage Restaurant

This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Bend. It is in a little craftsman house by the river and the ambiance is so cozy and welcoming. They have amazing baked goods and meals and really go out of their way to make sure the customer service is top notch. It’s very kid friendly and a fabulous place for a birthday brunch! My only complaint is that it’s a little expensive, but with all the extras they provide I don’t think it’s a serious issue.

We read this is the best breakfast in Bend and boy, did it deliver! This is a cozy spot that feels like home. Every single thing was delicious. The vanilla latte was one of the best I’ve ever had. I ordered the Harvest Hash. It came with a scone and fresh fruit. Truly, everything was AMAZING! The food was so fresh. The service was also fantastic. You can’t go wrong.

We waited a little over an hour, and are glad we did. The jalapeño cheddar scone was everyone's favorite! An ABSOLUTE MUST TRY! The green Chile pork omelet was flavorful and delicious, but the potatoes were meh, so opt for the fruit. The cinnamon bread French toast was so so good, a recommend for sure. We got the American combo and it was just OK. Overall the items that were good, were REALLY GOOD. just sick with those.

This morning my wife and I had to take a car in for routine maintenance @the dealer, and we stopped in here for breakfast, about 8:15 am. What a nice place! First, it was raining - yes, tell me about it - cra cra I know! Because its August and was 95° yesterday! Gotta love Central Oregon! Anyway, since this place is popular due to the creative menu and local ingredients, it was busy. We opted to sit outside, because they have a huge covered area that's watertight, and it wasn't cold. But since we sat outside, we waited about 8 minutes longer than 2 couples that came after us that wanted inside. But its definitely worth the wait (15 minutes total) because its pretty outside, and nature is awesome. The waiting area is covered with shade sails, and there is a self-serve water and drip coffee station. Also, a young gentleman came out to us waiting and asked each person if they needed a blanket or wanted something else to drink other than the station offerings. One fellow that was there on his anniversary ordered a bloody mary, and they had it to him quick, complete with a little garden on top. My wife got the stuffed french toast ($16 + $3 for bananas and a side of scrambled eggs $3). I got the carnitas scramble ($22) that comes with a jalapeno cheddar scone. Neither of us could finish our meals, and they were both delicious. Justin was our server, and he was very cordial, fast and attentive, and helped me decide netween the scramble or the lava omelette. We didn't get a chance to check the bathrooms, but bussers were sanitizing the tables AND chairs in between parties. Nice!
