Yaqub's Steakhouse Birmingham

This place gave me great Chinese food along with Nostalgia. If you are looking for the kind of a proper Pakistani/ Indian Chinese food then this is the place to go. The food was 10/10 for me and my family. I have found this place for Chinese food 10 times better than Oodle Noodles or any other halal Chinese restaurant. Throughout, the taste of the food was very subtle, I ordered chicken lollipops and wontons for starter, my main was chicken Manchurian, Chinese rice, Hong Kong chow mien and Kung Pao lamb with veggies. None of the dish was over powering. The whole experience was great, peaceful and kids friendly. You could find a prayer corner too.

We reserved a table at Yaqub’s. After reading positive reviews, reservation online doesn’t work, I had to call in to confirm even though I made it online. The ambience is ok, however the floors were sticky! Not a great start. We ordered food and drinks, the waiter brought out 1 glass, a jug of water and 2 coke cans. We had to ask for additional glasses. Anyway, ordered our food and asked for our steaks to be spicy. The starters came out which were wings. Nice portion, doused in marinade. Side of salad. Great starter. Tasty, had a little punch. Steak sizes were generous, they came out and we were excited! Topped with caramelised onions! Presentation was good, fries were nice and crispy, salad seemed fresh with a nice dressing. The steak itself whilst it was cooked to perfection, lacked the spice we asked for. Their hot sauce is sweet so not to our liking, after asking for a better chili sauce they gave us the chicken marinade we had on the wings. So it kinda did the job. The side of vegetables unfortunately let this dish down. Not fresh, clearly frozen which is ok, but they were just warmed up and served. No seasoning, no taste to them. That was disappointing. In all, the meal was satisfying, very reasonable for the portions indeed! So value for money is great, it certainly is not a bad steakhouse at all. Worth the visit.

I went to Yaqub last night and the food was really good. I had the lamb steak, yummy. I really enjoyed my meal and the server was kind. For sure I will come back, I do love tasty food. Affordable price also for less than £17 I had lamb steak with 2 sides and I took a extra drink. They also add a tasty salade on the plat side.

Really well made steak juice tender and tasty while customer service was top notch loved the place will highly recommend.Serving size of each every dish is really large and filling parking is bit of problem but still worth going and trying. Pricing is not too experience like other steak houses. Ambiance is really nice you can enjoy your food with family.

Pros: The meal was extremely delicious and tasty. What you see on my plate below is a 12oz well done rump steak with two sides...yep the portion sizes are super generous. The rice was too spicy so I didn't touch it as I can't eat food with lots of pepper. I ended up so full that I regret not taking a doggy bag home. The food taste and portions are so worth their vee affordable and reasonable price tag. Cons: The atmosphere was somewhat dull due to the none vibrant music. Also there were two waiters but it was only one who was actively doing everything from seating people down, to taking orders to serving meals at the table. As a result he looked overwhelmed as I felt he was so overworked that empty tables stayed unclear for 45 minutes. The other waited needs to pull his thumb out and help and not just stay behind the bar cleaning glasses and acting busy. It takes 5 minutes or less to clear and wipe down an empty table.
