Shady Palms

This place was a mutual location of a few of us that had not met in a couple of years. We were inconvenienced as the establishment’s eftpos machine was not working and we had to go find cash. None of us had our debit cards we had Apple Pay and above all, two ex-bankers and two current bankers not wanting to touch money on a normal day let alone in a pandemic… Food was ok, definitely not something to rave about. Location of establishment is good. We probably won’t visit again, however we thank you for the experience.

Wanted a nice late lunch so tried out Shady Palms Cafe. Ordered the "Slow cooked beef pie with chips". Never in a million years did I expect what came out. See the picture. Not a fan of leaving bad reviews but you need to know not to order this meal. Not sure what the rest of the menu is like but the wine glass was dirty so not rushing back. Hope you have a better experience.

Great service and good selection of beers, if you like a wine, the options are limited, but spirits aplenty. The venue has a great retro vibe with plenty of quirky things to keep your eyes interested. The tunes are an eclectic range of retro bangers and there is a great inside and outside option to meet up with friends. A couple of extra staff would have spend things up, but the team are great and really love going down there for a few bevvies

Horrible Customer Service, First time at Shady Palms Cafe, older man very rude. It’s 5pm and freezing, I put the heater on to stay warm and one of the male staff comes out and yells at me. Caught me off guard, very disappointing. I would recommend training staff on customer service. I will be eating at more other establishments, as they understand the importance and value of customer satisfaction.

The vibe is nice enough however found some of the staff a bit rude, especially the person who seemed to be in charge (maybe the owner?). My vego burger was very average and my sweet potato fries over cooked and rather tasteless, asked for sauce and was told I’d be charged for it, seems a bit much when you’ve paid $21.50 for a mediocre vegetarian burger. Had a lovely cocktail though. I used to come here years ago when it was under different management, seems like things have slipped a little.
