Kawa Sushi

Having gone through uni in the area and now work in the area, I can say as a fact that Kawa Sushi is worth your money. In the past they were honestly not the best quality, but in the last year especially I have noticed an enormous jump in quality of the food. The price is still a little high but I have paid twice that for worse food in a high class Japanese restaurant before so I'm definately not complaining. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere with I credible food. Highly recommend.

Since the owner has replied to my review, you might have customers who buy the rice on a daily basis, we are talking about the food we received. We are quite familiar with Japanese food. In fact, I eat sushi or other japenese dishes at least twice a week. We did not ask for a refund. You should have the courtesy to serve us with a fresh dish. We have been to your restaurant several times before and have ordered the same dish before, we had the bad experience just this time. We are NEVER RETURNING TO YOUR RESTAURANT, that is a decision we took just before we left the place. Original review: Ordered Beef don from Kawa sushi. The rice was smelling really bad. Told the staff about it and staff was arguing that's how it tastes. Instead of getting a fresh dish, They just separated the beef from rice and served us with the same thing in two different plates. The Beef tasted like the roast beef from coles or Woolworths. Did not taste like wagyu beef at all. Does not recommend this place.

I can't say much more about this place other then 'eh'. Its disappointing to say the least. The 'flame cooked' aburi salmon was cold and raw which are two things you are explicitly paying to not have when you order such a dish. It seems they put some sauce or something on top of the fish, cook it, and because of that choice the fish stayed raw under all the stuff on top of it. The chicken karage don was pretty much just beer battered chicken and rice i don't think was worth the 13.5 dollar price point. The drinks are also very expensive, 3 dollars for a can of coke when the woollies behind it sells them for about 2.50 each and a 24 pack for 28 dollars. I'd suggest bringing your own drink (that isn't booze). As another reviewer said, it is strange seeing such a restaurant with just two people working in it, but neither were rude as far as i could tell, just quiet. Utensils felt cheap, but that is a minor matter. Overall, for what i want out of such a restaurant (hot tasty food) it isn't worth it and i can make my own meals at home for less money and just as disappointing.
