Enzo & Sons

Went to Enzo's on Saturday night for a special family occasion. It was unusually cold and windy even though we were seated inside. Our entire party was cold for the duration of our dinner and couldn't wait to get out of there when our meals were finished. We raised this issue with two members of the wait staff and requested blankets or if the outdoor folding doors could be slightly closed to help block the wind. The first waitress said they were unable to do so without an explanation as to why this was the case, and the second waitress said she would check and get back to us but never did. For a restaurant to be situated on the water and not provide gas heating, blankets or be willing to close doors when there are chilly winds coming across the ocean is completely unacceptable. This was our first time at Enzo's and the food was enjoyable and the prices fair - however, the service was slow and very poor. The uncomfortable dining situation really took away from our enjoyable night out together, but it was the complete lack of hospitality in response that left a sour taste in our mouths and we won't be returning.

Sublime! We selected from the starters as we were not too hungry. The meat balls were really good, the tomato starter was excellent juicy and full of flavour. But the beetroot salad took all the honours. We had the Sicilian wine which was excellent too. As for the staff, well they are obviously passionate about what they do because the service was top notch. The food was better than the fish restaurant next door!

Terrible service, no wine list and quite possibly the worst cheese board I've ever had. They literally had packet mozzarella as one of the cheeses. Not to mention a disgusting vegan cheese that was clearly only meant for cooking purposes, not a cheese board. There was no spread on the board, cheap crackers and the bread for the board came out after we'd finished. Real shame because it has a great atmosphere with exposed brick walls and a fireplace, could be a great spot but it's not.

Only because I can't give no stars. I was there last night for a meal after watching the football. We made a booking for 9.30ish and said we would be the after the match. We arrived just before 10.00, and was greeted by a young waitress that said "I didn't think you were coming, you are so late" . We ordered pizza, with 4 pizzas on the menu, one was unavailable and there was no pineapple to put on the second pizza. As we were enjoying our food, a group of young men arrived and were extremely loud. They upset another group and a fight started, included the wheeling of a chair. This resulted in a part of the broken chair hitting me, glass breaking and one man needing medical attention. As we sat amongst broken furniture, glasses and pottery, NO staff asked if we were alright. As we left, we said our chips didn't arrive, the response was a smile from the waiter.

This place has a unique style and a good vibe (outside looking in) so we decided to give it a go. Plain and simply put, it has been a disappointing experience. We have ordered olives and the antipasti platter. It took half an hour to get the olives on the table and ten more minutes to get the board. To our surprise, there were more olives on the board (not specified on the menu) so we thought that the waitress would have informed us that we were doubling up. There was no meat on the platter and only cheeses, one of which was suspiciously stuck all together in inseparable cubes. The bread was cheap crackers and there was no pesto at all. Overall there was not much taste on the board and the meats (which were brought aside) were hard and not very tasty.

Average experience to say the least. Went in before Friday night football, got told they didn't have a cider on tap but the bar staff managed to find a 6-pack of Hills Apple Cider at the back of the fridge...not exactly filling me with confidence. Menu lacked imagination and really was just bog-standard RSL type fare. Ordered 3 woodfired pizzas at $24 apiece. The "Carne" pizza is simply 8 slices of salami and handfuls of processed ham strips/chunks - not really worth the money! Sat out the back as the downstairs area was taken up. Bar staff had heavy metal playing way too loudly to have a conversation with mates. Won't be going back - if I want average pizza at inflated prices I can go across the road to New York Pizza. This place was better when it was Statler & Waldorf.

Nice atmosphere and a good place to grab a drink on Caxton street, but some constructive criticism about their menu: We went on Saturday night to try their pizza but they'd unfortunately run out of pizza bases until 10pm (we were in at 7pm but it was a game night so probably a lack of planning on their half). There wasn't much else to choose from on the menu (just lasagne or sides) so we opted for the charcuterie and cheese board. The blue cheese, prosciutto and salami were great but pecorino and parmesan aren't good options for a cheese board and I wasn't a fan of the baloney. We were lucky enough to have an EatClub voucher which made the hit-and-miss board cheaper at least. Drinks were good though!
