Sammy's Fishbox Restaurant

Cycled 45 miles from Long Island and couldn’t find a bakery nearby. Saw the $15.95 advertised poster outside and got drawn in. Was looking for a quick bite before sunset, didn’t want to get caught cycling in the dark. Cashier machine was down for 10 minutes and customers were waiting. I explained I can pay cash and needed to be on my way. Please 🙏🏻 hurry. The gentleman/manager told the girl to use a different register. Asked kitchen to expedite my order. Thank you 🙏🏻 Low expectations for this fast food meal. WOW 🤩 WOW 🤩. 10 Jumbo sized shrimp lightly fried. Succulent & seeping with flavor. Came with extra large fries, a coleslaw salad & pickle slice. Tremendous value 👍👍. Good for 2. I must applaud the quality & size of the shrimp. Very impressive and I can’t wait to return. Next week possibly if weather permits. How have I passed up this wonderful place for 10 years since coming to City Island? Today was my lucky 🍀 day 🥇🥇

I've been coming to this restaurant for years because I love City Island. I gave them a 4 because they need to update their menu. Yhey doubled their prices so they need to update their menu. The round bread on the table is entirely too messy. That pickled cauliflower is a waste of money. It's got to go. The service is very good. The lobster and crablegs are cooked without high salt in which I love. The yellow rice is good also. The table rice got to go....

First time at Sammy’s and am pretty pleased. The hostess was very nice and caring, she asked if we had any birthdays in our party of 17. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The servers came when we sat down and wanted to take our drinks right away not giving us a chance to get comfortable, we asked for them to give us a few minutes to settle in. They came back and started to take our drink orders, brought a very delicious warm sesame seed bread, pickle veggies, cheese. I ordered the lobster and lobster bisque; the bisque was edible and flavorful wish it had plenty of lobster. My lobster was good so was the stuffing in the lobster (that’s what it appeared to be). My friends ordered shrimp, clams, lobster rolls, scallops, etc. Every meal came with a salad, rice, and corn on the cob. Overall we were all please with the food. The service could use some friendly courtesy. They have parking and it worth the try, will be back to try their crabs and shrimp platter

My father and I had just got done boating into the city and had docked on City Island earlier in the day. A quick Google search found this place, Sammy's and we headed in. Cannot begin to describe how much this meal hit the spot. We came hungry but were no match for the portions here. Everything from the clams, to the scallops to the shrimp (more on that later) was incredibly fresh and cooked to golden perfection. Back to the shrimp. They were both easily the largest shrimp I have ever had but also easily one of the top 3 shrimp bites of my semi long life. Incredible. In short, I would find it hard to be disappointed here, perhaps scan the menu ahead of time if you're in a hurry, they have all of Poseidon's children on it. A true seafood lover's paradise and a must try for anyone in NYC!

So I went to city Island for the first time after living in NYC for 10+ yrs which is very sad because it’s an absolute must visit for any NYC native. Like the name states, City Island is a little island 🏝️ located at the end of Bronx. It’s consisting of a chain of seafood restaurants including Sammy’s Fish Box and its counter part across the street Sammy’s Shrimp Box. Upon arrival the wait time was minimal once our party was completed and within a couple of minutes the waiter brought us corn bread and a delicious spicy salad 😋. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it so my family was very happy. We ordered drinks which was also very good and then they brought us more salad 🥗 which was a nice 👍🏾 surprise and it was actually very tasty 😋. Our main course took about 15 minutes to be served and everyone was very excited about their dinner and we definitely had a feast lol. Overall it was a great experience and at the end they brought out a little dessert 🧁 with a candle and sang my sister in law a happy birthday 🎉. The only thing I would mention is that, THEY DON’T HAVE TO GO CUPS for your drinks 🍹 so if you plan to take your cocktails to go BRING YOUR OWN TO GO CUP lol. It’s also pricey💰💰💰. Other than that, I definitely would recommend going to City Island to check out Sammy’s Fish Box, you just might like it.
