Annapurna Indian Cuisine

The food, service, and ambience are ok. There is no table service at this restaurant. The food is ordered at the counter and drinks/cutlery are self-serve. The Idli and Vada Combo was ok, sambar could be more flavorful. The Cheese Dosa was good. The Andhra Goat Curry had an overpowering peppery taste at a spice level of medium, and the Chicken Tikka Masala was creamy, but lacking flavor. The pieces of chicken in the Curry were not cooked to the same consistency and had varying textures. In general, the food did not have a depth of flavor and was monotone. The presentation could be better, serving food in disposable plates in the restaurant gave it a fast-food vibe.

Good food for the price with some room for improvement. The girl at the counter was very friendly and attentive. I got the buffet which runs until 3PM daily. It had a good variety of items and there were no low or missing items. The only thing I'd say could be improved with the buffet is the salad which looked just like chopped iceberg lettuce. I'd expect mixed greens with tomatoes and onions like they used to have. The other thing is that was concerning is the back of the restaurant had a bad smell, like an open sewer or something. I don't know if it was coming from the soda machine, the bathroom or the kitchen. I didn't investigate, but I caught a couple whiffs while I was seated at my table as well. They really need to resolve this.

Wow. Simply the best Indian food ever to grace my taste buds. Each and every item and all the sauces were amazing. Perfectly balanced and deeply complex flavors, each like a fine wine, where the flavors dance and sing like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. Samosas are a must-have starter, with 2 sauces that amaze. Chicken dishes, Birinyi and Tika Masala, will make you wonder how they did it. I noticed this restaurant had an average 3 star rating. WRONG. This is 5 star cuisine, obviously prepared by a master chef. I will stop now, so you can get your order in!

Annapurna is mother goddess for food and nourishment, but this restaurant is a shame on the name. I seldom, go out to eat Indian food, even though I am an Indian by origin, as there is not any good Indian restaurants around in San Diego or probably even in LA. With great hesitation I went to Annapurna restaurant (on friends request) at Bressi ranch. First thing first, the restaurant was very untidy. There were plates left on 4 tables and hardly any place for people to sit and eat. There was a young lassie on the counter, who cannot wish customers and cannot make sure the restaurant is clean. That ticked me off. Coming to the food aspect, there is nothing at all special or closer resemblance to Indian food. Nothing was clean at all. This is like a below average restaurant in some corner of a metro in India. The chicken tandoori was hard as rock and sucked big time. Presentation and food taste was below average. Then the kitchen had glass all around to give the customers a good view of the restaurant. This is great opportunity for the owners to sell on the point of how Indian kitchens may look like, however, the kitchen showed boxes of spices, trash, and oil marks on the glass, things that you don't want your customers to see. This is an aweful representation of an Indian kitchen. Its a failure for the owners to show it well. I don't mean to dislike it just like that, but if a place has good food, and it is kept clean on the floor, tables, kitchen and toilets, there is nothing like it. Two stars from me a lot. I am never going back there unless all these factors are improved.

Wish I could give it a negative rating. Worst ever Indian food. I mean ever. There is more, Terrible service too. The owner acts as a cashier, table cleaner and waiter too. Utthapam was probably frozen a year ago. Chilli Onion Utthapam took approximately 25 min to get unfrozen and heated up.Had to go and ask if I could cancel. Sambar was cold. Never go here.
