Zapata's Cantina And Mexican Restaurant

Excellent food at a good price and if you come right after the lunch rush you get lots of attention. Despite the late lunch, all of the chips were very fresh with a fresh salsa that still had a little crunch to the onions. The jalapeno salsa is a little on the spicy side for those that don't go that route. The regular salsa did not have much spiciness, so should be good for most tastes. The Fajita Bowl looked a lot better before I dug in, sorry. Was really hungry and forgot to get this pic at the beginning. The rice, beans, and all other components are not layered, but massed around. You have to stir it up a little if you want a good combination of flavors. The sautéed, whole, mushrooms made for a great addition in place of traditional proteins. For a lunch portion, this was quite generous. The "fried" ice cream is not fried, but was freshly rolled in sweetened corn flakes so had a nice crispiness. The cinnamon and sugar on the tortilla bowl was perfect and also freshly fried.

Staff was very nice and the wait for food was short! I got the Quesadilla Tacos Birria and it was delicious. Sat on the patio which has a nice view of the water and all the tables have umbrellas for shade. We even got a complementary dessert near the end! A sweet chip for each person with some chocolate and whipped cream, nothing fancy but it was a nice surprise and I appreciated it. Definitely recommend 👍

A group of about 14 ladies met here for dinner. We had one waitress and she was fabulous. She took care of our table better than a team of servers. The strawberry margarita and the crystal ball were so good. I had birria tacos. They weren’t as good as some I’ve had in the past but they were delicious. We didn’t know there would be entertainment. I’m guessing it was karaoke night. We had such a great time. I would definitely recommend this spot on a Friday night with friends. If I’m ever in town again I will be returning.

I have zero clue why I have never been here before now! Clearly I have been missing out! I wanted some birria tacos and decided to try theirs out for lunch. Honestly probably the best ones I’ve had thus far! And their broth actually had chunks of meat in it, first time I’ve had that happen and my God was it amazing! And I NEVER eat refried beans yet I found myself eating theirs lol. Everything seriously was delicious. Staff was friendly, place was very clean and has a nice decor. And the fried cheesecake was to die for. I will most certainly be back! Going to have to go for dinner one day and get a margarita.
