The Taft gets some great exhibits. The Women’s Sport Clothing Exhibit is here through January 14, 2024. I go to lots of art exhibits and this one is one of my favorites. We did one of their high teas. It was tasty and the harp player greatly added to the ambience. The Taft Mansion makes for a perfect backdrop for their art collection. The gift shop always has an interesting selection of offerings.

Bought tickets online ($2 cheaper!), and went with two children (both free), and found all staff super friendly and informative, especially the woman at the front desk. Sundays are free, so I assume the museum is much busier that day than when we went. The art collection is compact, but labels are informative, especially the "More to the Story" additions. My children read them all, and even talked about them on the way home, so those were a great choice. They also enjoyed looking for the "Top 10." It took us about an hour to get through the museum, so it's a nice little diversion, but don't expect to spend an entire day. I would definitely go back, highly recommended.

This museum straddles the line between historic house and art museum with a sprinkle of art history. The building itself was the home of the Tafts, so much of the museum shows the architecture and styling of each room as it used to be before you enter it. They keep the art interesting by including “more to the story” sections under many of the works’ plaques that give information on the person in the photo, the artist, or the technique, making the museum interesting for both the art buff and the historian. Free on Sundays! And tickets are cheeper online so definitely buy before you go. We spent almost 2 hours in there *just* seeing the permanent collection.
