Maverick Chocolate Company

I recently took a tour of Maverick Chocolate at Rookwood Commons and was impressed. It’s so nice to an organic chocolate store that cares about providing a quality product at a fair price. Better yet it’s nice to know that the farmers were the beans are sourced from are paid a fair wage. The chocolate tastes amazing and I also love fact that each country where the beans are sourced from have their own bar. The tour was informative and of course tasting samples at the end of the tour was great too.

A bit high-end but it was well worth it. I got the prohibition milk chocolate and it was easily the best I have ever had. Incredibly complex, more so than I thought possible, not too sweet. The truffles are beautiful and the atmosphere is like something you would see in a designer clothing store. I will be back

After trying the Findlay Market location I tried this one. Whereas the Findlay Market shop is old world (I call it a chocolate factory for "older Charlie's") this one is very modern and sleek and you can see how the chocolate is made. It is a different vibe but no difference in quality and price. You are surrounded by the craft and the smell. Free samples help you narrow down your choice and the staff are very helpful. Sample, and see, they'll find something you like. After a sample I thought $10-12 for a bar was a bargain. They even have a sugar free option, which my diabetic friend bought. I'm not much of a truffle person, but it was fun to smell, ask questions and get a box which the wife loved and said she enjoyed.

I LOVE their chocolate! My first experience was at the Findlay Market location. The Rookwood store is beautiful, simple and elegant. You must look up if you go because the owner designed and built the most amazing miniature plane by hand. You can also see how they make the chocolate as a glass wall allows you to see “behind the curtain.” Try the bars, truffles, chocolate chip cookies, frozen chocolate . . . ALL of it is to die for. They are a bit pricey, averaging over $10 a bar, but excellence should be rewarded. One recent change that I especially like is serving size suggestion and sugar content are now on the packaging. Please check out this chocolatier. You won’t want to go anywhere else for this delicacy after you’ve tasted their offerings. Maverick is just that good.

I recently learned about this company while watching a cable news coverage on them. I was impressed with their story and decided to check them out. I’m glad I did! Prior to ordering, I called in and got some fantastic recommendations on what chocolates I maybe should try. The rest is history, as they say I’m hooked! Awesome customer service on the phone and even once the order was placed. They were on top of things, with emails that had a certain warmth that let you knew you were getting a product that not only was going to taste great, but was also truly cared for.
