Gold Star Chili

This store used to be great but they seem to really be struggling since covid. They seem to change their schedule on the fly so you can go there and wait in line forever while other cars get their food then get up to the window and be told they're closed. This has happened to me several times, on weekdays and on weekends, in the middle of the afternoon or in the evening. Each time Google has said they were open. The lights are never on and there might be one person inside. The speaker is broken so you have to pull up to the window and half of the time the one person inside will not even acknowledge you are there. Just a mess and it's sad because this used to be one of my favorite places to eat!

Food was awesome as always. They do not have their combo meals on the menu or posted inside anywhere, only drive through. I went in this time instead of drive through, so I had to ask the young lady that was taking my order what the combo meals options were. She said she did not know, looked very confused and the gentleman that was preparing the food just looked at me. Offered no feedback on my question. Both employees have been there for a while, so I'm a little confused as to why that was such a difficult question and why the menu is different inside than drive through. The ordering process was way harder than it had to be. Some additional training for the staff and having the same menue options inside as out would turn the 2 stars to 5. I don't like leaving negative feedback but the quality of the food was the only 5 star experience I had this visit.

I just went hit the drive thru for a pretty hefty order and after waiting about 10 minutes on my food, I return my house to find hardly any garlic parm on my garlic parm fries. Pretty expensive fries to only be able to eat 3 or 4 fries that actually have what I ordered on them. The rest just regular ole fries. Have called numerous times with no answer after I just left the parking lot 5-10 minutes ago and plan on taking picture of said fries to show the manager if I ever do plan on giving them anymore of my business. Might have nothing to do with owner/food but possibly caused by poor management and also poor training methods. Each order of fries should have the same amount of garlic parm and this is the saddest excuse of $5.28 I've ever spent on food.

Since I tried Skyline a couple of weeks ago I naturally had to try Gold Star. It is amazing how similar these two establishments are in terms of the food offering, how the food is served, and how similar the flavor profiles are. Yes there are some subtle flavor differences; and I am sure die hard fans will argue otherwise, but I find either establishment to be equal and would have no specific dining preference between the two restaurants.
