Rays Drive In has always been a staple as we would pass through Dayton coming from Spokane and heading to Walla Walla. I returned to Dayton and ordered Rays for my wife and I for the first time in years.
I love the local mom/pop feel of it. However, my experience was not the greatest. The food is cook to order so I expected to wait a bit for my food (ordered to go). My patience was tested when I placed my order. There was a new person working the counter and it probably took 10-15 minutes to actually place the order (and no, I did not have to wait in line). The ordering process was extremely painful. Also, the price for a "fast food" joint was a little more than I wanted to pay. I ordered two burgers, fries, tots, and a milkshake and it came out to $34!!!!
The burgers were great and the shake was delicious. The fires were average and the tots were soggy and below par. Rays wasn't what I remembered it to be but for a burger place in Dayton, probably your best (only) option.

Tasty food, better than expected for this kind of place, delicious sauces
Not a huge menu selection, except for the milkshakes, which have tons of options.
Spent $70 for 4 people

This place is amazing. Head to Head it's the best burgers and fries I've ever had. The people there were extremely nice even when they were dealing with a lot of traffic for the drive though. Reasonable prices GREAT FOOD

Stopped in on a snowy day coming from Dodge Junction. They seem to always be open whenever we drive thru Dayton. We were early enough to get breakfast or lunch. I had bacon and cheese omelette (3 eggs) with 3 small pancakes. You can get the omelette with hash browns and toast too. Wife had "special" which this day was 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee. Both were tasty and right off the griddle. Hot and filling. Good service friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Worth a visit!

It was alright. Not sure if they changed ownership, but definitely different ambience than last time I was there. Our lunch, Hamburger and chicken strip, was a little on the expensive side $32. I know prices up with business trying to keep doors open, but we were charged a "dine-in" fee??

I just bought a house in Dayton and Very Pleased with Rays. Very good food and really good prices. Love the Cougar Burger Basket with onion rings. Very nice and friendly people also working there. A plus for sure.

Legit small town, locally owned burger shop. Great food and fun combos. Owner and staff are very friendly.

We were passing throught and decided to try Ray's. I had the cheese burger which was classic and delicious. I love the sweet relish they add to the burgers. I also had the chocolate milk shake. It was thick and oh so chocolatey. The wife had the ham and cheese sandwich without the cheese on sourdough bread. The ham was hand carved with just the right amount of mayo, tomato and lettuce. I ate the half she couldn't finish and it to was delicious. I highly recommend this place.
