Big Tex

Searching for place to eat, my wife and I found Big Tex. We got there a few minutes before it opened and when it opened went in not knowing what to expect. The inside looks really cool, highly-decorated, and it gives you a good mix of Georgia and Texas. The food was great the blue cheese burger was awesome. Everything else that we had was wonderful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Our waitress was very cute and had a wonderful personality. She gave us constant attention and we never lacked for service.

This place is the besttttt so many kinds of people can fit in here, about 250 people could squeeze in here, there are dining rooms, big & full bars, games in the back room + dining, live music coming soon, outdoor smoking sections, amazing staff, outdoor and indoor seating, fun place, great atmosphere, free parking in evenings and weekends is AWESOME!!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Pros: - queso dip was good Cons: - salsa and guac tasted like they came out of a can - many beers were out/not functioning at 8:30pm on a Thursday I didn't try the entrees, so take my opinion with a grain of salt We decided to get just appetizers because we weren't too hungry. The place is nice enough, although it's fairly standard. They had live music, and of course live music is never a sure bet, but the shows they had were mediocre at best. Chicken wings were standard as well. Our waitress never provided us water (until we asked), and went on break near the end of our meal, leaving me to close my bill out at the register myself. Maybe their entrees are good, and maybe the live music is usually good, and maybe the service is usually good, but it just didn't line up for us this trip.

I was down visiting Atlanta from Toronto last week and my husband and I stopped to have dinner and a couple of drinks at Big Tex in Decatur. This place was the highlight of our trip. We actually went back a couple of times because we had really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere and the decor are great. We listened to an amazing band one night and attended Open Mic another night. The musicians were great and the comedian named Pops was absolutely hilarious! Both were so much fun. The staff at Big Tex are amazing! They are friendly to all of their customers and greet you as you walk in the door. The service is fast and they also check on you throughout your stay to see if there is anything else you need. I really have to mention their food. I had to try the catfish as I have never had it before. It was definitely mouth watering. I definitely recommend it. My husband had the wings. If you are looking for delicious, juicy, big wings, then Big Tex is definitely for you. Another amazing meal was the homemade burger, no frozen patty here! Also, homemade onion rings, the best we have ever had. If you live in the area or just visiting, stop by Big Tex, you will love it!

This place sucked to be honest. Wouldn’t recommend. When the food came out (after an hour of waiting i must say). We came on a Thursday night, around 7, and there weren’t many people around. We had been in a back room, that had been previously reserved, and because there weren’t many people that attented, they made us leave ?? After ordering my sprite, it took service 30 minutes to return, and bring it. Pretty sure it doesn’t take 30 minutes to fill up a cup? After waiting from 7:31-8:23 for 4 simple sides. When the food came out, they brought me the wrong sides, with different sides than i ordered. After trying to wave over a waiter for ten minutes, we finally got him over, and he wouldn’t let me return my dish. It is now 9 o clock, and we still haven’t received a check. I am pretty sure they are charging me for the extra sides that i didn’t want, but they included anyways. We also noticed that a table that came in half an hour before us received their food before us, even though we ordered twenty minutes prior. All in all, the service was terrible and the workers didn’t play attention to us. With all the great spots on the square, I would not go to this place for a fine dining experience.

So good! I missed this gem the first time around, but no worries cause they're back! When my boyfriend first suggested we check them out during their first week I was admittedly just going along for his sake. They totally won me over. The staff is very friendly. I think I saw the owners family members working that day. They have stuff I can eat, which is important because my stomach is a pain in the gut (get it?). Anyhoo, I've been back 4 or 5 times since and it's always delicious. Check out the specials because the kitchen really plays to win. To close with a quote I borrowed if you've never been here "you are not living your best life".
