Sonder Social Club

This was my first time to Sonder Social Club and I must say that I enjoyed my visit. Our waiter was very friendly and the food and drinks were worth the 30 miles we traveled to get there. Although the space was smaller than expected, the place had an airy feeling and we didn't feel as if we were sitting on top of each other. We could carry on conversation without straining to hear. Love the cozy book nook and how clever to hide the restroom entrance!

Loved the ambiance, the decor, the drinks, and the service. Beautiful craft cocktail bar serving great drinks at very reasonable prices. Got there shortly after they opened. Found the the "happy hour" menu is different than their website and social media marketing. Clean, organized, bright...this place is comfortable. I ordered the house old-fashioned and found it to be a great deal. I switched from the house spirit and the upcharge was negligible. I enjoyed my time there and will probably go back...I just wish they would get their marketing straight. It's a little off-putting when you've done your research and find out the your expectations are not going to be met. It's across the street from the Dunedin Brewery. Free garage parking and lots of things to do in the area.

I never leave reviews, but this one is well deserved. Great service, outstanding bartender. Lilith was very professional and attentive to our group. She greeted us with warmth and poise - especially for how busy it was. Menu is reasonably priced considering how delicious the cocktails are. The decor? Super cute. Also, the bathrooms were cleverly tucked away like bookshelves. We usually go to St.Pete, but I'm glad we found this hidden gem. Definitely coming back :)

Perhaps we visited on a bad night, but service was lacking when we visited tonight. We waited 20 minutes to have our first drink order taken, and at least 40 minutes from finishing our second drink to finally approaching the server at the bar and asking for our ticket. Several tables came and went while we we still waiting for service. I don’t know if it’s because we were a party of two (rather than a large group), and the assumption was that we wouldn’t tip well, or simply the fact that they were understaffed. But every table with 4 or more people received far better and faster service than the tables with 2 guests (the two-top next to us finally went up to the bar themselves to order drinks after waiting at least 30 minutes for the server to approach their table). We were never asked how we liked our food or drinks. The Rye or Dye was painfully sweet, and the Old Fashioned was simply okay. The decor was fun, and the ambiance was nice, if a bit loud. For the price of the sub-par drinks, we’ll find another place to frequent. Just to add icing to the cake, the server mixed up our credit card with that of a much larger table. We were charged more than double for our order (she gave us the receipt with the lower, correct amount, so we didn’t realize until we looked at our statement the next day). We tried calling multiple times, but nobody answers, and there’s no voicemail. Reached out via the contact form on the website and heard crickets. Not a great way to encourage repeat visits.

I’m really disappointed in our experience. I followed this establishment on Instagram for months and was excited to check it out. The photos posted are completely different what the actual experience is. The drinks are reasonably good and have a nice presentation, however the atmosphere is marketed as this warm cocktail bar and is anything but. I would compare it to having a cocktail in a library with bright lights.

Ambiance and chill rating are very high at this trendy Artisan Cocktail social Lounge with good outside seating and trendy hip interior design that has that warm inviting chill feeling. Problem are the drinks - All of our parties drinks were way way over sweetened (if that is something you aim for in your cocktails then you will love their drink preparation). My friend's "Paper Airplane" not only was overly sweet but did not traditionally taste the way it should, that also goes for the "Chocolate Martini. And the worst of all, by far was the "Rye Or Dye" . Best way to describe it is a total sugar bomb! My wife took one sip and trashed it - it was sickening sweet. Drink prices average between $13.00 - $15.00. So our first time at Sonder Social was an expensive experiment - we probably will not be back unless the drinks improve to our palate preference. Service was exceptionally slow (only two bartenders), they were clearly understaffed and that's probably a post COVID hiring issue so be patient, they will get to you. But if you are looking for immediate service and quick drink ordering - this is not the place as it is very popular and gets crowded.
