I came to a paint night for my birthday here in the summer. I had a blast. It seems like a good family atmosphere. It's a bit inconvenient that is connected to the hotel for bathroom use. When I was there it was someones wedding party in the hotel so the bathrooms were pretty busy. The bar was very brightly lit and not somewhere I would go for more than an hour or two. The location is easy go get to. Their servers and bartenders definitely did their job. It was a good time.

The beet salad is so yummy! The calamari makes for great finger food and while I was here I saw a paint night unfolding with a lead artist guiding people who are painting the picture the artist is leading! How cool. Prices are fair and the barking squirrel tastes super fresh. Also, in great company so I can't complain but the servers are lovely and on top of it!

We had our wedding reception in the up stairs area. Shauna, the manager, was amazing at helping us get things planned and having appetizers/drinks there when we arrived. They were absolutely fine with us coming the morning of the reception to fix the area up and make it "weddingy." Our server, Brooke, was so competent and efficient. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this pub-- for special events and for fun nights out!

Had a few meals here found both burgers to be dry, the lamb burger was really overcooked and solid so we sent it back, waited about 45 minutes before getting another back it was still dry but much better. The Yorkshire pudding starter was quite good and the server was friendly but didn't make it back around to our table for quite some time. Overall not an awful experience but not amazing either, might try it one more time and see if it was a once off

I wasn't going to review my recent visit to Fionn MacCool's (February 19, 2020) but Google keeps notifying me to do so. Well, here goes... Service here was terrible, at least to the table where we were seated. Do NOT sit at the northernmost table (hotel end). If they take you there, ask for another table even if it means waiting. Things seemed fine until we gave our initial food order. Eventually, a different server brought our appetizers followed a number of minutes later by our server bringing another, shocked to see they had already been delivered. When she returned to take away the appetizers, I asked for the leftovers to be boxed, to which she agreed happily, then never saw them again. Our server never came to see how we were doing, only attended us when she had to. When she cleared away the meal, she asked if I would like another beer. I said yes but, again, she forgot about us. Tables just feet away were serviced normally but it was like a wall separated the server's view of our table. My friend even had trouble getting her attention; she would walk to tables nearby then turn the other way, not even acknowledging us. When she finally realized we'd been "overlooked" for so long, she apologized profusely, offering to comp the second beer and any further beer I may order (I didn't). Despite the service, my friend and I each left normal tips, considering a single server's failure wasn't the fault of the rest of the staff, back and front. I was going to ask again for my leftover appetizer but decided it wasn't worth the hassle or the wait for them to make another, because the one I had paid for certainly went into the trash. To top things off, the Scene reward points weren't applied by this location because their "Scene system is down and has been for a while." Getting those missing points from Scene has been a challenge also, ongoing 10 days later. The only reason for not giving a one-star rating is simply because the food was decent. I will not be returning to this location.

The good selection of tasty, well prepared food is almost outweighed by the consistently mediocre and slow service. I've avoided reviewing this location for several years now hoping they'd improve and because I don't like giving negative reviews based on a small sampling of visits to a business, but the problem consistently persists at this location. I don't know why because the other location we regularly patronize has excellent service and the same quality food. If I had to guess I'd say there's a management problem here but that's purely speculation. Albeit based on business experience. Anyway, as long as you're not in a hurry or looking to be pampered, it's a nice place with good food and often decent live music.
