Not what I expected, at all. With prices rivaling Chimney Park, and actually being more expensive for some plates, we expected amazing food with soul. We got fancy hotel chain experience, if even.
Starting with drinks - “Sea you later” sounded so promising. Gin, blueberry syrup, Lillet blanc, lemon juice, rhubarb bitters, prosecco. All I tasted was gin and prosecco. It was almost like they forgot half the ingredients. Standard $10 per drink, but I’d opt out next time.
Appetizer - we shared crab cakes. Sharing was a bad idea - there were two of them and they were minuscule. Not warm throughout, with a surprisingly bland bearnaise sauce, and with the cardinal mistake of including some shell pieces in them. Thankfully they came with a slice of lemon so we were able to get some acidity and flavor. So not worth the $20 asking price.
For main courses, we had the lamb chops and scallops. Scallops were nice, well seared, but the “risotto” was just some mushy reheated rice. Very far removed from a proper plate of risotto you’d expect at the price range.
Lamb chops with potatoes au gratin and sugar snap peas were fine, if completely generic and uninspired. The star of the night were the snap peas - surprisingly snappy and well done. Lamb was cooked properly, potatoes were fine too, but it did not taste like a $50 plate of food. Just… forgettable.
Also, it was so very loud in there. Noise level was on par with a sports bar. I’m not sure how or why - it’s a nice bistro with live jazz, but we could barely have a conversation across a two person table.
All in all, a very uninspired meal, especially considering the price. With tip, at $170 for two (one app, three drinks, two main courses), it is extremely overpriced for what you get. I keep comparing it to Chimney Park because of the similar price point when you opt for a la carte, but in reality, these two places are so far removed, they aren’t even on the same playing field. Heck, I’m not sure if they are playing the same sport.
2.5 stars from me, if Google allowed half stars.I’ve read the other amazing reviews and I am bummed we missed that experience. Maybe we went on an off-night.

I hosted a party of 26 at Jay's for a very important recognition and celebration event. The atmosphere was awesome, the food was amazing, and the service was incredible. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Jay's Bistro never disappoints. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding. Service was delightful and very professional. I worked with Lance W. and he made sure all was just perfect. Can totally recommend it and will definitely come back again and again. I wish there were more stars to give. 10+

Must stop. Food was incredible. Tuna poke and oysters were fresh and tasted amazing. Great beer choices and wine. Staff was friendly and attentive. Patio seating right in old town Fort Collins. Highly recommend.

The service at Jay's is wonderful. I have been here 2x this winter with my little heart buddy on a date night. They accommodate diet restrictions, the servers are very friendly and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond for my sweet tiny date who wanted extra "fancy" cherries.

Overpriced for what you get. Its not bad, the food is good, just not $50 a plate food. There's other places in the same price range that far outweigh this one. Also, service was mediocre when restaurant was only 1/4 full. The timing for help was slow and poorly timed(came back to take our table to take our order when one of our party was missing) then they forgot portions of the meal at dinner service, and had to ask for later. Then at dessert they mixed up the drinks and dessert and charged the wrong ones. 😑 I wouldn't harp so much if this place didn't pretend to be as high a caliber as it claims.
Spend your money elsewhere, you won't regret it.

Service wonderful. Ordered 1/2 chicken got leg, thigh, and wing . Should be some white meat there, don't call wing white meat. Green beans were so hard I could not cut them. Peanut butter pie great.

Jay’s Bistro is my go-to upscale restaurants in Fort Collins. Their menu is usually seasonal and the chefs clearly know what they are doing because I have never had a bad meal here.
The live jazz is one of my favorite parts about Jay’s and the atmosphere, in general, is romantic and pleasant.
The customer service is friendly and professional. This is a great place for a date, lunch with a client, or nice family dinner.

Amazing service!! Beautiful restaurant, and even better food!!! We had the crab cake special, it was perfect!! So much crab. We had the tuna poke, the tuna was very very good and it was well flavored as well, for the meal we had the halibut and the lobster tails, and both dishes were absolutely perfect!!! Loved eating here and can’t wait to come back!!
