El Rancho Ii

Avoid this restaurant. The last two times I've gone I've ended up with extra items added onto my bill that didn't make sense and others at the table once I pointed it out noticed it on their bill too. The owner is overcharging and hopes you don't notice. Latest trick is they now charge $3 for the tiniest bowl of chips and watery salsa. Once you finish they ask if you want more then charge another $3. Very sneaky. Go elsewhere other places don't charge for chips and salsa and you get more chips in a big basket and better salsa. Other than that the food is pretty good but be forewarned about all the extra charges to inflate your bill. They are losing customers and it is for good reason.

I've been going to El Rancho for many many years. Unfortunately, Raphael is no longer there. The food has always been great and still is but the place just isn't the same without him. The Top Shelf Margarita is pricey but the best . The prices have gone up and I think the portions may have gotten smaller. That's happening everywhere so it is what it is. The El Grande Burrito is my dinner of choice. Still my favorite Mexican restaurant in Fremont.

The food is good. They have made a change that I am not sure is good. They have always given chips and salsa when you are seated. Now they still bring the chips and salsa and DO NOT ask you if you want them. You ask why is this a problem. Well the problem is they don't tell you that they now charge $3.00 for that very skimpy bowl of chips and salsa. So you get them and they show up on your bill without you ordering them. On the way I did noticed the special board and at the very top it read chips and salsa 3.00 so it makes you think this now a special of the day????

My family has enjoyed El Rancho throughout the years. We stopped a few days ago for the first time in a while and things have drastically changed. When we got our bill, everything was much more expensive than indicated... The add-ons such as cheese and sour cream were $2 and $1.50 for a spoonful of sour cream. While an additional charge is expected, this amount is ridiculous and wasn't mentioned when ordering or in the menu. The worst part about the experience was that they now charge for the chips and salsa, which have always been free. This also was not told to us or included on the menu. Good food, sketchy sales services.

Your 3 year old could cook this food. Quite literally, microwaved burritos, instant minute rice, and floutas that is only ground beef with no flavor. I can’t believe this is labeled “Mexican” food. To make it all the worse, the margarita wasn’t strong enough to make me not care about the nasty food and the $3 for each handful of chips. Which they continually brought out without informing us we were apparently eating gold in chip form.

Really good authentic Mexican fare at reasonable prices. Service was excellent. They were very attentive to our needs all during supper. Update: even better today. Special burrito and specialty margaritas. Mucho Bueno. Update 4-26-22: As usual, the hostess Edith welcomed us to our table and sent Mindy over to take our order. Mindy was efficient, entertaining and attentive. The food was excellent again ( So were the drinks 😃).
