Capital Joe

This is a nice spot near downtown Harrisburg to grab a cup of coffee. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon after parking on the street (there's 15 minutes of free parking, otherwise it's $3 per hour Mon-Sat from 8am to 7pm; if you use the ParkMobile App you can buy in half hour increments so $1.5 an hour). I got a 20 oz Iced Latte for $4.11 after using the Yelp 20% and overall it was good although not too remarkable. I liked Little Amps better, so I would rate Joe's coffee a 3/5. Without the 20% off, the coffee is too expensive in my opinion, as that that price point you could get Philz coffee, which is much better. The reason for my 5 stars though is the friendly service, plentiful seating, and amazing WiFi (300 Mbps up and 11 Mbps down), so I'll add 2 points for that. Also it's a very small business, so I like supporting small businesses when I can

I'd always heard good things about Capitol Joe, and it was awesome to discover that their reputation is well deserved. It's cozy and inviting inside, and the staff are the very definition of friendly. I also think I've found the one Pumpkin Spice Latte to rule them all. (Don't judge. We all have our vices.)

The coffee is good, I've never had a bad cup there. Prices are pretty standard, outside of the happy hour lattes between 11:30 and 1:00 which drops the price nicely. Never had an issue with service or cleanliness, very good atmosphere. Still only four stars because they don't actually open at 7AM like they say. They open at 7, or 7:10, or 7:15, or 7:30... basically whenever their opener feels like unlocking the door. It's very frustrating to be looking forward to a coffee before work only to find the blinds are still closed. If they could be more consistent with their opening times I'd say 5 stars. If you aren't showing up at the crack of dawn like me, you'll have a fine experience.

My husband and I just moved to the area from DC and found this place while walking around and exploring the city. Great atmosphere, great coffee. We loved coming here and have decided this our new favorite coffee shop! We met who I presumed was the owner and chatted with him a bit, he ended up giving us two free drink coupons -what a welcome! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere is warm and inviting...makes you want to stay a while, I think we will. :)
