The Rookery Cafe

It’s handy that this cafe is here because there isn’t really anywhere else to go if you’re just walking (we had an appointment nearby early in the morning). We popped in for breakfast after being drawn in by the reviews but sadly it didn’t live up to its hype. The service was ok, the cleanliness of the place was fine and they had an interesting selection of fizzy drinks. We each ordered a breakfast and both of them didn’t live up to the reviews (apart from the sausages-they were tasty). It was all sort of slopped on the plate and the fried egg had been overcooked. There was lots of toast but the coffee was just an instant one and not a great one at that. We’ve both enjoyed some really nice breakfasts at other establishments and found that this one at the Rookery Cafe, just didn’t turn out to be worth the time or the price. We didn’t go their for gourmet food and we didn’t come out very impressed.

My first visit, a group of us on motorbikes braved the wet and came for a late breakfast. Very fast counter service and fast delivery of our chosen meals, don't think any of us had the same. The staff were busy but attended to us well, no complaints whatsoever. It's not the Ritz, it's a roadside cafe and offers good food, good service, very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Exactly what we were expecting and exactly what we got. Can't ask for more. As a roadside cafe, I would recommend it.
