Eastgate Family Restaurant

My boyfriend & I wanted to meet up for breakfast on my days off in Henderson as he’s working night shift 7P - 7 A in Sebree & I live in Newburgh. So I googled breakfast restaurants in Henderson & found this little gem!! As soon as we walked in you could just tell it was a good place to eat!!! This was on a Thursday morning. The portions was HUGE!! The coffee was good!!! The prices was amazing!!! The service incredible!!! This place was so good we went back on Friday!!! I think we may have found “our place”pics are from both days.

This was our first visit . It needs up dating for sure. Food was very good. It is a home cooked style diner. Prices are reasonable. Flounder was on the menu but when I ordered it she said it had been taken off . They were in the process of te- doing the menus. My baked potatoe,was cold. The server was very kind and got me a new hot potatoe. She kept our drinks filled. They have home made delicous pies too.

My BFF & I arrived there @ 10:30am on Saturday. We had never been there b4. She ordered a breakfast meal & I 8 the salad bar! ❤ SO DELICIOUS! 😋 It even came with a drink BUT I declined bcuz I don't like Pepsi products. The 2 soups were not ready until we left but that was OK for me. I don't eat soup in the summer. LUVD the salad bar tho! 😍

Very disappointed in today visit. We have been over a two dozen times. There was a sign saying due to holiday (New Year Eve), we are closing at 2. We arrived around 12:15 so no problem. We order drinks and than we were told no special, no plate meals; breakfast all day and anything off the grill or that could be fried. Not bad, but not what we wanted. We wouldn't have stayed if we knew no special or fish for Friday. But we had already order drinks. Next time post a sign or be sure your wait staff tells people as they seated. We could tell many customer we're disappointed as us but just like us had already order drinks. We order and we're told they were out of some items- so had to change it. Food comes out and it was incorrect- oh sorry we don't have that item till the truck comes in later today. 😒 We were very disappointed. Service was slow, expensive for burger and fries, and food was just alright. To be honest we probably won't be back.

Literally ate here today for the first time in over 30 years! New ownership. Clean. Could use some "down home" type decorations. Anyway, food was good. Companion had club sandwich, I had pork tenderloin. Club was good. Tenderloin was pretty basic "Sysco" type frozen tenderloin but wasn't bad. Chocolate pie was homemade and excellent. Next time can't wait to try breakfast. Way back when, breakfast was THE thing Eastgate Restaurant was known for. That and the all you can eat fish on Friday nights. UPDATE: Ate here again on a Wednesday night. Spaghetti was on special and was very tasty (with meat sauce). It came with garlic bread (homemade but tasted a bit off) and 2 other sides (I got a cup of soup and bowl of fruit from salad bar). Oddly enough a side salad is not one of the "sides" options (at least not without paying an extra $2 or so just for the salad). All in all, still a tasty dinner and a solid option in Henderson.
