Texas Best Bbq

Just stopped for the first time at this travel stop and was so pleasantly surprised! If you are hungry on a road trip- this is the place to stop! They essentially have a food court on the inside with Steak N Shake, Auntie Anne’s, Cinnabon, and a BBQ joint. They also have all the other standard gas station snack foods, sodas, and candies. They have super clean and large restrooms as well! Also, if you are a Tesla owner then they have about 10 different station for you to charge your vehicles.

Pretty good bbq for a gas stop on 287. I had the two meat platter with jalapeño sausage and brisket. The brisket was fine… It was tender may be a bit under seasoned. They dole out the sauces like they are gold… But they give you extra if you ask. The people are super friendly. By the way this is a great start for gas and snacks and general stretching of the legs. It’s kind of a mini Bucees.

Today was my birthday and I was looking forward to my bday meal at Texas Best Smokehouse. I ordered the three meat meal with brisket, sausage, pork ribs, bacon ranch pasta, and cherry cobbler. The sausage and pasta were tasty but the brisket and ribs were so dry that I'm certain in a day or two they could be repackaged as jerky. The cobbler was meh and even my root beer soda was mostly carbonated water. The portions were very large for the price but next time I will drive the 50 or so miles down the road (I'm a truck driver) to the rest stop in Decatur for some real Texas BBQ.

Ridiculous prices! Has been a while since last time I stopped here, I'm a fan of BBQ, as truck drivers we don't have many options to choose from but I'll take BBQ over fast food almost anytime, with the exception of this place, I refuse to support these kind of abuse. They even have the monitors turned off, I'm guessing they can't control the prices shown there, so they have this colorful sign at the counter.

Stopped in on our way to Dallas this morning. The food was amazing, the customer service was good too! They have a fly problem which they may not be able to get a handle on, however most of the food was covered except the cheese, bacon, and 1 or two more were not covered when we stepped up to the counter. The flies were thick and there was definitely a need to keep the food covered. After our food was made, the containers opened to prep our food were left open. I presumed it was just to move us through to check out faster, however after we paid, the person walked to the back (employee area) and left the containers uncovered. Like I said, the food was very good, but I am hesitant to go back if there is no attempt to keep the flies out of the food.
