Read about this place before coming to town and I was determined to visit. Having said that, let me say that the written story cannot convey the depth of flavour and satisfaction that was had in partaking of the deliciousness that was on the plate.
This place has been a staple in the Hour Springs area for 92 yrs and its apparent why. The locals come on droves. The tourists stop by in throngs and the folks that happen by just don't stop coming.
If you're anywhere within a 100 miles, you need to add this place to your must go list. Really, as the menu says, "It's that good!".
The pic, it's the Barn Sampler... A little slice of awesomeness.

Legendary. The best of the best of you like a spicy/vinegar style barbecue sauce. The tamale spread is absolutely amazing

Always love this place threw the yaers. Great staff and great BBQ! Always have a to go box plus some extras. Fare price for the quantity of great food offered here. Plenty of parking and no so crowded with the COVID-19 seating spaces in place.

Wow, I forgot how delicious the McClard's ribs taste. This place is an icon in Hot Springs, and has so much history. It's fun just to walk around the restaurant and look at all the memorabilia. Grab a rib plate and some chopped beef to go. What a treat--- but watch the McClard's bbq sauce. It's great, if you love spicy!!!

The sides were good but not a fan of their type of BBQ or bbq sauce. If you are a fan of a heavy tomato base BBQ sauce then you will like it. As for the meat we got the turkey, sausage, and Brisket lets just say it didn't taste smoked.

My partner and I full time travel, with a goal of eating BBQ in all 50 states. McClard's did Arkansas proud.
It's nothing fancy, just a small building in a rundown part of town, cozy and friendly, with plenty of indoor seating and picnic tables outside.
We each had the sampler plate with beef, pork, ribs, and sausage - mine with a tamale and his with potato salad. The meat was smoky and moist, great flavor and texture. it comes with a drizzle of their homemade BBQ sauce, and there's more on the table if you want it. But honestly the meat is good enough to stand naked before God. The portions were enormous - one platter is easily shared between two people or if you're like us you want the leftovers.
The tamale was soft and heartier than a normal tamale. Beefy and they serve it with saltines so you can spread it like a dip. I didn't do that, I just ate mine. Or half of it anyway, because it's a large tamale and there was a ton of other food. It was quite tasty.
Many times we visit the most hyped BBQ joint in town and it turns out to be not worth all the fuss. McClard's is worth the fuss.
