Black Walnut Cafe - Memorial

This was my first time at the establishment, and did feel a little overwhelmed at the entrance. I was not sure whether to wait for a host, or seat myself. Then Bill probably noticed my confused look, and gave me the best service a restaurant has to offer. He answered every question my wife and I had, and even noticed we were missing our coffees before we did. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I would also like to point out that my wife and I were dressed as if we were just waking up on a long night of working. I really appreciate the fact that we were not judged poorly and still got the same exceptional service as everyone else. I don’t typically go to cafes, but I will definitely be back to try some drinks from the coffee bar.

Went here for a birthday breakfast, and we were extremely happy! Food is so delicious! Definitely will be going back! Are only complaint was the amount of potatoes for the hash browns that was served was small. Still tasted great, but we wanted a little bit more. Still had a great experience here! 5 stars!

After visiting the Bayou City Arts Festival in downtown Houston, we made it over to the Black Walnut Cafe on Memorial Drive. The ambience is nice, with plenty of room to sit, either inside or out on their patio. We were greeted by Amanda, and she instantly made us feel welcomed. She answered some questions we had about the menu and went above and beyond to make sure we found what we were looking for. We ordered an appetizer, the Bacon Jam Deviled Eggs (they were delicious), then we decided we were going to share the Chicken Fried Steak with seasoned mashed potatoes and gravy. I must say, this was probably THE BEST chicken fried steak I've ever eaten. The combo of the steak, potatoes and gravy were seasoned to perfection. We ate slowly, so as to savor every bite; it was THAT GOOD. Our server, Angel, did an excellent job in making sure we had everything we needed and that were happy with our visit. The whole experience was top-notch, and I highly recommend that you stop by this location, or really, any of their locations in the Houston area. I think you'll be glad you did.

The second I walked in the door my bridal party of 9 and myself were greeted and taken care of despite the line being out the door! We ordered about 10-15 minutes after getting in. We did sit outside to get a table quickly but they had rolling fans to help with the heat. Violeta was an amazing server! She was so attentive and kind. The bussers came by and cleared plates to give us room. Drinks came fast and were so beautiful every time. The food was delectable! Manager Kyle stopped by and I was glad he did because he needed to know how wonderful his staff is!! Black Walnut Cafe is THE brunch spot! The girls and I will be back! Thank you for kicking off my wedding dress shopping afternoon!

Came in on a Sunday so as expected the place was packed and overwhelming busy. The service was amazing! So many people checked up on us during our wait and after our meal came out. The lemon blueberry pancakes were absolutely to die for! The lobster Benedict was decent but probably wouldn’t order it again. Will definitely come back just not while its busy.

Say it with me... A-M-A-Z-I-NG! Bill & his crew are a great group of people that actually seem excited about getting it right for you. We came Friday afternoon and our children (family of 7) loved the Chicken & Waffles, the chicken tortilla soup had me here 3 days later at breakfast eating chicken tortilla soup lol. My husband enjoyed the blueberry pancakes (he was asking for another stomach) I understand why you don't hear much about this place... people want to keep it a secret!!
