Overall, the food was spectacular. Everything about it made us want to melt while eating it and gave us euphoric vibes. The oxtail reminded me of if I sat down in a little shop back in Kingston, it was some of the best oxtail that I've had since I've been in Houston. The smothered burger was like no other, when we opened the plate, we were surprised with the layout of the burger. Instead of the burger being on a bun, it was a combination of dirty rice mixed in with the burger meat, which was absolutely delicious. The fried fish and shrimp was astonishing, for the crispness of each bite was near to perfect. For dessert, the cornbread was to die for, as the moistness of it would make it crumble and melt in your mouth. Although the food was amazing, the drawback is the entire experience and the expensiveness of the food. The long wait times, the dangerous area, and the hole in your wallet will make you want to not come here. Our opinion though is that everyone should try this place at least once. There truly will never be another Soulfood by Catherine anywhere else out there.

I had two smothered pork chops, mac and cheese, rice, collard greens, cornbread, and grape Kool-Aid, and let me tell you if I could describe the flavor food sensation that I experienced when the magnificent addictive flavor food sensation and plethora of magic stimulating my different taste glands I'll leave it like this....😳😲🤯🙌🏿🙌🏿🤤😋❤️😍🤩😌...IT WAS AMAZING!!! Definitely a must eat Houston eatery. Hey say everything is bigger in Texas and soul food by Catherine definitely solidify that saying. If you are ever in Houston this is a place that will change your life

My daughter found this place on Tictok She made me drive about 45 minutes to get there The place is small but that’s what gives it the energy of family gathering to enjoy good food The workers were so darn friendly The store manager was such a real and warm kind person We got the 2 piece fish dinner with mac and cheese, yams and I was surprised that our meal also came with a side of rice We got the neck bone gravy on the rice, Tropical Punch Kool aid and Lemon cake. When I tell you that everything was deliciously glorious lol The texture and fry of the fish were perfection The yams and mac and cheese were so comforting The lemon cake was so moist and delicious The kool aid took me back to my childhood it was just right I and my daughter loved everything about this experience We hope to go back very soon 💫

We were nervous ordering here because of the reviews but we enjoyed it. The fried ribs and fried pork chops were delicious. The fried ribs had a nice crunch. The macaroni and cheese is very good. The corn bread is sweet and buttery but a little crumbly-it falls a part-but is good. Mashed potatoes were good too. Portion sizes are big. The greens needed more seasoning and they do taste canned. The gumbo didn’t taste like gumbo to us. It tasted more like a stew. The chitterlings were good too. Our batch didn’t have any hog maw (not sure if they don’t use it or we didn’t get any). They were flavorful though. Overall, we plan to order here again. We got it delivered and it was packaged well but cannot speak to the restaurant.
