Rio Grande

I came in because I was craving chips and salsa. They were better than expected. Got greeted and seated right away. Friendly waitress. I got the chicken burrito al carbon, which was a ton of food. It makes for good leftovers! Only weird part of my meal was the sour cream was frozen and I couldn’t get my fork through it. Other than that, $10-15 per plate, good spot for Mexican food.

While the food was great, the overall experience was a bit lacking. There seemed to be some mechanical issues that made it a but warm inside. They seemed to be trying to deal with it but people could definitely tell it was a struggle. While most people enjoyed thier service, we were a little shocked when we didn't get the drinks we ordered until we were almost done eating. Server seemed to forget something every time they came back to the table. Typically my wife and I love Rio Grande but this particular location I'd not one of our favorites. Hopefully they can overcome some of the building issues and iorn out some customer service and this could be a fairly solid place to dine from time to time.

We usually go to the Newport location because they are the best! We chose to go to the Independence location today because it was closer and we left shortly after arriving. The bus boy sat us away from everyone else in the restaurant. Kinda felt like it was based on what we looked like. The only thing good was the chips and queso. Everything else was bland. My husband didn't receive the hot sauce and they still charged us for it. The waitress was rude! Cared more about impressing her friends than waiting on us. She dropped pop on my husband and apologized but laughed as well. Which we felt wasn't sincere. Will not return to the Independence location in the future! Just awful service.
