Teresa's Place

I enjoyed the salmon, salad and soup. The spaghetti side was OK and the bread was super market level. The oddest part of the experience is we had a reservation but when we got there we still had to wait 20 min for the first available table to seat a party of 6. So there does not appear to be a benefit to making a reservation. They also seem to try and hurry you through the meal.

My wife and I were in the Jackson area for my birthday, and based on the reviews and an overwhelming craving for Italian food, I decided Teresa's Place might be a good place to stop for a pre-birthday dinner. The ambience of the place is perfect as a result of the color scheme and the lighting. The staff was mostly friendly, and the Christmas decor was lovely. They served us bread not two minutes after we sat down, and that was followed quickly by some piping hot soup. About ten minutes later we had the calamari appetizer that we ordered. They also provided with a house salad to share. I ordered the linguine with clams as my entree, and my wife ordered the salmon. To finish it off, we let our waitress know that it was my birthday and we ordered a slice of chocolate cake to share. Here are the items we ordered from tastiest to least tastiest: 1. Calamari: It was incredible. I can't say enough good things about it. The batter was perfectly seasoned and the calamari was the right texture. So good! 2. Salmon: Tender on the inside and a nice crust on the outside. Also nicely seasoned and yummy. 3. Chocolate cake: Every bit as good as the salmon. Spongy and not too rich, and the frosting was delectably firm and delicious. 4. Soup: Neither too bland nor too flavorful, but had just the right balance. Something about it seemed to incredibly healthy. I thought to myself, "If I had a cold, I'm pretty convinced this soup would reverse the effects." 5. Salad: Good salad! The dressing was perfectly balanced. 6. Bread: The bread was soft and pretty good. There was nothing that really stood out about it, but of course, the butter elevated it to the next level. 7. Linguine with clams: Good, but not among the best I have had. This was the only dish I needed to add salt to, as I felt there was just not enough flavor. I also thought that maybe the sauce could have been a bit thicker; it was a little watery. My wife had a small side of spaghetti with her salmon, and I thought her spaghetti was superior to my linguine. I wouldn't be in a hurry to order the dish again, but the clams were certainly very good. All in all, we loved Teresa's Place and hope to return some day!

Like many others in this review section, I've known about this place forever. This used to be our lunch stop for 20+ years on our way to or from Tahoe every summer for vacation. My grandpa had to start or end his vacation with Teresa's minestrone soup. And I ALWAYS remember being just as excited for Teresa's as I was to go to Tahoe. I'm being generous with 4 stars, because in all honesty, I'd like to say 1, but that isn't a fair assessment of the whole situation. 《Tl;dr at the very bottom》 We've been a few times since we stopped our vacation trips, and every time has been just fine. Good food, good service. Nothing to complain about, really. You have to go in with the understanding that you are essentially getting a four course meal. Bread, soup, salad, and then dinner. So timing, yeah, it takes a bit. The night that we came in, they were swamped! And I was definitely glad to see it, and in all honesty, the timing, yeah, it was a little long, but there was no more room, anywhere. The bar and the restaurant were packed. We were there with friends, on the night I am currently writing about, and we had three small kiddos with us. I never gave it much thought, but as far as little kid friendly, not so much. Still- not a big deal. And when I say little, I'm talking under 5. So sharing with parents- makes sense. We weren't offered a kid's menu, don't know if they have one, and they knew we had littles, they got us the highchairs. So imagine my surprise when the bill comes and there is a "Seating" charge x3 on there. Excuse me? I get if we opted not to order from a kid's menu. I get if we specifically had place settings for the kids and used them-then that's a spit plate charge... but to just charge us to have our kids at the table with us....are you kidding? And with zero heads up. If it's on the menu somewhere, it's definitely hidden. But I'm not going to buy my 18-month-old a $20+ meal.. if you don't make kid's portions cool, charge for a split plate. Don't charge me just because my kid is too little to have a "regular" meal. Incredibly disappointed in that business practice. And not that we are even remotely regulars, but I will 100% think twice before coming back any time soon. And before you think "oh they probably made a huge mess and their kids were a-holes," they weren't. There definitely was a bigger mess than we intended, but we cleaned a good portion of it up, and for being in a super crowded, extremely loud restaurant, all three kids did remarkable. They were better behaved than some of the adult patrons. *Tl;dr- charged a "Seating" fee for three kids under 5 with no heads up and no offer of a kid's menu so we could have even ordered them their own food in the first place. Incredibly disappointed.*

I took my wife here for our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic. The staff was amazing. And the atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant i've ever been to. It is rich with the family's history that has owned that restaurant for a very long time. We will absolutely be returning here.

This is a quaint real Italian family style restaurant that’s out of the way And hidden on the back roads. The staff greets you like they’re happy to see you and welcome you to their house. They have a one page menu but it’s still difficult to choose which meal to have. They start off every meal with a minestrone soup followed by salad and then followed by the main course. I wouldn’t pass up the tiramisu for dessert. The exterior is very deceiving thinking there may be room for five tables but there are several dining areas and a full bar. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area.
