Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store

Some of the best home cooked food I have ever found out side of my Mother's and Grand Mother's kitchen. The turnips and the white beans were seasoned to perfection. The catfish was coated and fried with cornmeal taste as if you had just reeled it in from the banks of the Mississippi River bank. I can't tell you about the desserts ( although they looked very good ) cause there was no room for them after such a wonderful experience with their buffet of such great food

Terrible food, this is TN, you should know how to cook better. The mash potatoes were from a box, no salt, chicken greasy, pork dry as a bone, its only salvation was the sweet tea, although not sweet enough! The music was hideous, from about 1875, although I'm in my 60s, I hate that music...I thought I was living in a Western....even the blonde waitress couldn't waiter....bad attitude, I shouldn't have tipped her....I gave it 1 star because I thought the bathroom was clean enough....I wouldnt send my worst enemy to eat here! Wasted 15 bucks+1 4 waitress! Total garbage.....ugh

Not social distancing. We sat right in between two tables with folks seated close enough to touch elbows. There were gloves for people to use at the buffet, but only a few people put them on. The only reason I didn't give a 1 star review is because mask were mandatory. The majority of people had them on, even going around the buffet. Don't advertise social distancing if you're not going to abide by it. I know it's hard when you're trying to make money, but there was enough room in that restaurant that people didn't have to be packed on top of one another.

I would prefer healthier alternatives, instead of everything being fried. The STRAWBERRY BUTTER is mouth-watering! It is delicious!!! Banana pudding is tasty. The turnip & collared greens need a bit more flavoring. They were bitter to the taste. They have a family style menu, where the customer chooses 3 meats, 4 veggies & a drink. That is too much for ONE diner. They should investigate other menu options. The staff was very nice & friendly. This was my 1st experience dining there. Many people say it is a destination eatery when traveling through the area. I don't thinking I'll dine there again, especially if they still have the Family Style menu b/c it's just too much for one person and there aren't any healthy alternatives.
