Haleiwa Joe's At Haiku Gardens

This place is a gem. We had an hour and a half wait but because it is so beautiful, we didn’t mind. The walk to the little pond was beautiful. Sitting outside the restaurant was pleasant. The weather is perfect so slowing down to enjoy the sights is easy. As for the food, get the prime rib. Be prepared, it is 2.5 pounds of meat. But oh so good! The staff was kind and attentive. Again, the atmosphere inside is so pleasant and inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Such a stunning view at our patio table! A truly beautiful restaurant that is worth the wait (no reservations - see video for reference on wait before doors open). I was hesitant about ordering prime rib in Hawaii but I saw a review about it being a thing here, and it truly is! Best prime rib I’ve ever had. My family’s meals were amazing, too.

I've seen this restaurant pop up on my radar a few times and finally got to try it out. No reservations and many have said you have to queue up early, so we arrived about 45 mins before opening. They opened the doors right on time and shepherded us in. The line had gotten quite long, but luckily we got a prime table with a great view right along the railing on the right side. Our server was super friendly and made great recs, of which we knew right away was the famous prime rib. The fresh, warm bread with their guava butter was a great starter. I would've asked for another round of warm bread had we not had more delicious food coming. We ordered the prime rib to share as an entrée, a chowder soup, the sizzling mushrooms as a side, and steak fries. The soup was okay, creamy with good chunks of seafood. Mushrooms were great and indeed came out sizzling. Fries were....meh, and their homemade Ketchup was interesting. But the star of the show, the prime rib, woooof! I have never seen such a large portion of prime rib, the thickness was nearly 2" and it was huge. They acknowledged we wanted to split and they brought out 2 portions of au jus. The prime rib was perfectly medium rare and well seasoned. The sides of mashed potatoes and green beans complemented it well, as well as the horseradish cream sauce. Overall would love to come back for their prime rib, as it was absolutely delicious. The views are also unbeatable. Note: they don't take amex. Also it's Mosquito central, so make sure to have repellant. They have rotating fans throughout the restaurant, but some are dead (as was ours, so we were kinda of sweating). If you don't care for the view, you can walk up to the bar.

Amazing experience dining at Haleiwa Joe's. There was a wait, but that was to be expected as there was a long line. There is a garden to explore at the bottom while you wait. The service and atmosphere was top notch after getting seated and ordered. The portions are very good. Highly recommend the prime rib (very generous cut and very flavourful) and the fried cauliflower (tastes like orange chicken). Have heard that they run out of prime ribs around 6:30, so if that is something you are looking for, make sure you arrive early and expect a wait.

Absolutely beautiful location. The food is exceptional. I wish I would have ordered the prime rib though that I saw at the other table. 3 inches thick and looked to be perfectly cooked. Highly recommend this place. ***Update a year later and I ordered the Prime Rib…as advertised, huge and delicious. A must try for any carnivore. See new photos..

Each item we tried was truly top of the line, showcasing the culinary excellence of the place. Despite a moment of uncertainty at the entrance, the friendly service prevailed, and we were promptly seated. The hostess, while initially indicating the restaurant was full, accommodated us as a group left, ensuring we could enjoy our evening. The efficiency of the kitchen was impressive, as the food arrived fast and piping hot. For must-try recommendations, the grilled mushrooms left a lasting impression, and the fresh fruit with ice cream dessert was a perfect sweet ending to our meal. From the delightful flavors to the efficient service, this establishment offers an overall experience that's sure to please any discerning palate.

They take no reservations, their website says it opens at 4pm, we got there at 4:10 and had to wait 1 hr 20 min for a table for 2. Our waiter said people start waiting from around 3 every day! Thank goodness for their garden in which to stroll and while the time away. We had a table that had a beautiful view of the pond. The food was tasty and the service timely. The Thai Calamari appetizer had a light crispy batter, the calamari was tender and the sauce was a good balance of sweet and tart with a hint of heat. The prime rib was huge, enough for three meals! The whole fried fish (barramundi or Asian sea bass) turned heads as it was brought to our table. Our waiter said this dish and the prime rib usually sells out by 6pm! We ended the meal with delicious Chocolate Mousse Pie.
