Cafe Gold Coast

I would not return here again. There have obviously been an ownership or staffing change and it's now poor to put it nicely. The young waitress, extremely attentive and friendly. This place once made exceptional coffee, now the coffee is bitter. I had corn fritters, requested the egg be poached hard, rock hard, that wasn't done but with that said most cafes don't get it right. The fritters were a little bland and gluggy, clearly needed more time on the grill, you want fritters to have a golden brown colour and be hot, these were pale and just warm. And then covered in alfalfa sprouts - is that weird or just me?? In short, it was disappointing, and I won't return. At the end of the day, cafes must remember that we don't eat out because we can't cook, but because we want a break. Today, I could have made far better corn fritters at home myself for free. I expect the ones made by a chef to be better than what I could make at home! The staff were friendly but honestly the food was poor and I just wanted to leave and forget that experience ever happened. I immediately went to another cafe to have a real good coffee.

21 June 2020. @Pickle n' Pinch. Enjoyed flat white with almond milk and delicious homemade apple shortcake. The shortcake melted in my mouth. Please note this cafe is not called Monsoon but Pickle n' Pinch. New owners family run. Beautiful service. Thank you Paul and your parents 😊. ____________________________ Enjoyed a classic breakfast at Monsoon but asked without toast with flatwhite coffee (lactose free milk) Service was very friendly n good. Normally much better, but today was disappointing. Hollandaise sauce on both Eggs Benedict's lacked flavour and was very thin. Plates were cold which made breakfast go cold. Both soy chai latte's were one third foam but otherwise nice. Took a long time to take our order and they weren't overly busy. Normally much better.

Such a friendly atmosphere. You can tell there are lots of regulars who keep coming back for the great customer service. I'm not a breakfast person usually, but there were some great choices for the people who don't like eggs on toast. I had the Potato & Chive Cake with Poached Eggs, Bacon and Hollandaise and it was delicious - could eat it every morning. Great coffee as well. Wish this was my local in Adelaide!

Place was empty, should have known. Waiter was very nice but she was new and clearly hadn't been trained to use the iPad. Food took ages and when it came my partner's poached eggs Benedict was completely undercooked and they had to make another. My pancakes didn't come with strawberries and bananas as it said on the menu and I got told by the Russian lady who must be the owner that because I had asked for the salted caramel sauce that it didn't come with the fruit. The menu said I could add a sauce for $2 extra so it is in addition to the fruit not minus the fruit. Terrible service and food quality. Not worth it at all!!! Do not waste your time here!

My friend and I had breakfast here for the first time and we had a mixed experience. The food was lovely and a good price for the portions you get, particularly the Monsoon breakfast. We had a coffee and a milkshake which were both a bit overpriced and okay. However the service was not very good, and I am disinclined to come back when we were not treated very well. Hopefully this was just an off day for them as the lunch menu looks very interesting
