We had an excellent Lentil Shepherds Pie and very excellent fruit cake, buying some to take home. The owners are very friendly. It's not often we're spoilt for choice.

My boyfriend and I went to this quirky lil cafe and it was delightful! The couple were so friendly, helpful and lovely and we got some yummy vegan food! We will definitely be going back more often, thank you so much! ☺️ 💛

No shortage of cafes in Lancaster but this one does manage to be a little different. Decent coffee and a nice cup cake (think it was carrot and walnut with a nice cream cheese based topping?) Haven't tried food but probably will with vegi daughter at some point. Owners are very friendly and welcoming and the old gig and movie posters on the walls are interesting.

I haven't been to Lancaster for a long time. I found it miserable and boring and dominated by snotty students. Somewhat disappointingly I had to spend a week here recently and I went here for lunch. My rubbish day was instantly transformed into a beautiful one. The food here is absolutely wonderful and the staff are so friendly that it's almost changed my entire perception of this weird little town. I will be coming back for more of this delicious food. Thank you very much x

Really enjoyable lunch. Stopped here on the way to the Lakes and so glad we choose to eat here. A lot of vegan options. We had the nut loaf, which comes served with a choice of 3 different salads. The salads were lovely. Staff friendly too and knew a lot of the customers by name, which was nice to see.

Lunchtime: parmesan and leek quiche, and apricot and rosemary nut loaf, both served with a lovely selection of salads. All vegetarian and GLUTEN FREE! Followed by Welsh tea loaf. Really lovely food and the nicest staff. A very nice way to while away an afternoon. Breastfeeding friendly

Julie and Kim at The Sage Café went above and beyond. It’s not often you come across such willing people, and I struck gold when I reached out to them for their help. My Mum had been admitted to The Royal Lancaster Infirmary Hospital and was having an awful time. On top of that, she was served a lacto-free yogurt and banana for her dinner one day as they clearly had no clue about providing meals for someone following a vegan diet. I live in Dubai so felt helpless and contacted Julie and Kim to see if there was anything they could do to help. I found them on The Happy Cow and they came back to my email quickly explaining they are delivering heat-at-home meals during the closure of their café. I explained the hospital wouldn’t allow my Mum to heat any food from outside the hospital, so not only did they say they would heat the food for her, but they would deliver it to her ward at the hospital each day at 5pm ready for dinner time on the ward. My Mum sent me photos every day of how overwhelmed she was with the fresh food put in front of her, along with cakes and flapjacks to keep her going throughout the days (the peanut curry was her absolute fave!). I honestly cannot thank Julie and Kim enough for going above and beyond to bring my Mum some happiness during a difficult time. They are wonderful humans and if you’re ever in Lancaster looking for fresh, homemade vegan food, then look no further. We are so very grateful to you both. Laura

I'm currently a patient at Lancaster Royal Infirmary struggling to maintain a healthy plant based diet! My daughter in Dubai found this wonderful place online and arranged a daily delivery to the ward. Julie & Kim arrived at the agreed time, the butternut sq/veg stew and couscous was so delicious I've requested it again, and again! 😋 Thank you both - I truly appreciate your service and thoroughly enjoy your delicious food. You've gone above and beyond and I'm so very grateful. Looking forward to tomorrow's supper already! 💚🌱 Update to recommend the mushroom and ale pie, fresh veg, banana bread and flapjacks - don't deny yourself a treat if you're in Lancaster - I can't wait for the cottage lentil pie and carrot cake tonight. I wish I had words to express just how much of a difference this has made to me during this stressful time. Thank You both and I know your business will exceed all expectations going forward - you deserve every success. We will be proper customers when I have to return for future appointments and can't wait to sit in your beautiful cafe. 💚🌱

Stumbled across this place during our brief visit to Lancaster and it’s in the centre of town and really cute! You’ll be hard pressed to come across a more independent and local business than this. Only serving vegetarian & vegan food, it’s a perfect place for a coffee & cake, or a hearty vegetarian lunch. We had coffee, veg lunch and finished with a massive slice of lemon drizzle - yum! Clearly run by two friendly locals, this place is super quaint and cute. They really appreciate the business and had good social distancing, hand sanitiser upon entry, 1-use menus and the two workers wore masks at all times. Really glad we stumbled upon it!

Called in today day, on the off chance as they had stopped doing food, but they made an exception and I had a lovely homemade nut roast and several samples of all the salads on offer. I think it was Atkinson's if not then sorry Atkinson's, but it was a lovely Cappuccino. It's nice to see the café open again and bonus they have chosen to be meat free. Good luck !
