Dogs For Cats

They had a $25 adoption fee weekend! We'd been wanting a new dog but just didn't need to spend a lot. We looked and checked out a couple and found one we liked. They were very courteous and answered all our questions. Unfortunately, an issue with our landlord caused us to have to return her. We were broken hearted. I hated the thought of her going back, but we had no choice. When my husband took her back, to his surprise, she seemed like she was going home. She seemed very happy to be back... we were comforted in that she wasn't distraught while praying she finds a good home. They talked with my husband and they were very kind, understanding, and comforting. They were very busy and there was a wait - she got very excited and wanted to get inside.

The staff are very unfriendly and not helpful. It also smells terrible like they don't take care of the animals and then try to hide it with chemicals. I recommend making the trip to jessamine county humane society if you are looking to adopt. It's much cleaner and the adoption fees are more affordable.

I will never adopt from a humane society after this. I was told the kitten I was interested in was "aggressive" and "needed to go into foster care", I still asked to meet the kitten and the lady smacked the kitten against the wall and ceiling of the cage it was in (also, it was in a cage that looking like either a rat or bird cage, what??) but the kitten showed no signs of aggression or even bad temperament. I went forward with the adoption because of the treatmentI saw to the poor kitten, the employee tried her hardest to get me to adopt any other cat when I came in asking to meet this specific one and after meeting it, specified that I wanted to adopt this specific one. When finally I was able to finish the hour of paperwork, they proceeded to hit the kitten on the head with the microchip scanner when attempting to scan him and then slamming him into the carrier I bought. I left fuming, but thankfully with the kitten. The kitten is healthy and happy, has shown no signs of aggression and is the friendliest cat I've ever met. By far the worth experience I've ever had with a shelter and the rough handling of delicate animals is awful.
