Waxy O'connors

I love Waxy! I've been coming here since they first opened. It has a comfortable pup ambiance and good food. During the week they have a large business clientele but on weekends you can get a table right away. I recently attended a retirement party here and it was well handled. The lunch buffet was great because it allowed folks to mingle and talk to everyone. Again, a great meal.

We gave this a try a few times. I know that every restaurant is having staffing issues, so we are always prepared for a longer than usual wait time for food. The service was awful and the food was not good. Cold mashed potatoes, a plate that was more than 50% partially cooked broccoli. I asked for a cup of tea, which finally came with no sugar, no cream/milk and no spoon. It took so long to get someone back over to the table, I just stirred it with a spare knife. The entertainment was great, so I would go back for that but not the food or service.

The food was good. Stick to the bar foods. The tots, tenders, and wings are good. Brussels Sprouts were also tasty. My friend got their Nashville Hot sandwich and it looked amazing. Their seafood isn't that great in my opinion.... But it's an Irish Pub, what do you expect haha. Great place, friendly staff, good beer selection, and most of their bar food/meats are good.

The layout and atmosphere of this place is very nice. Nice central bar with dispersed seating and some outdoor seating. When there is live music, it is a little bit loud for dining. The food is reasonable, but nothing special. The chicken curry tasted more like a gravy rather than a true curry and was disappointing.

Staff was great and very covid conscientious. Face masks, cleaning surfaces constantly. The patron's on the other hand; high risk and troublesome. If you got the vaccine, great for you, but you still need to wear your mask. Especially at this table. Sat adjacent to this bar table set for two, but was converted to 4 people. I witnessed a barrage of ppl interact with this table that were not part of the original 4 people. Sitting down, taking off their masks, complaining about the mask rule, ordering drinks, then departing from the table to bring their drinks elsewhere. And then you got this dude in the green shirt, who wasn't and evidently didnt have a mask ready to cover his face, but also bouncing between tables and interacing with people. Just because you may not believe in the virus, doesn't mean people should be at risk due to your naive standpoint. It isn't hard to wear your mask, do your job as patron's and prevent your favorite bar from closing down again.
