Went here on its final day. A cozy, galleried pub that has been with me for many years. Now gone forever. Closed, and tossed out upon memories dimming in time inside me.

Classic pub fare in a classic London neighborhood. The upper dining room was closed but we were able to get full service from the bar. Felt like I was in another time.

Tasty food and not bad pricing for a city restaurant (around £15 for a main). I am saying restaurant rather than pub since the bookable dining room definitely feels like more of the former. I arrived around 1215 and the place was empty, but by around 1240 it was heaving. Service was a little slow by the time the place was busy, so if you need a quick meal, book an early slot, and order quickly.

Good food, beautifully presented and well cooked. I had cod, which was delicious. The others all enjoyed their food and said so.
They are adept at catering for large tables and service is superb. The wine list is good.
A good place to hold a team dinner.

Excellent so long as you like meat. Fine game terrine and excellent Barnsley chops, steaks, pies and burgers. Good fish too. Imaginative wine list with good wines by the glass and cask ales.

Sometimes you eat a dish that redefines your understanding of exceptional and the White Park steak we enjoyed last night did just that.
Apparently, this is the original wild cattle knighted Sir Loin by king James 1st in 16th century because of its supreme quality. And the chef certainly respected that legend with perfect cooking.
The ambiance, decor and lovely team running the place present a succulent, meaty menu of deliciousness in what must be one of the best Pub & Chophouses in London.
We left happy. Very happy. And soon to return.

Hearty British food and drink at this old school favourite. You can imagine getting holed up with a few pints and tucking into a comforting venison pie. The theme is pub grub done in a fine dining style. Hunting lodge style theme inside is what you would expect and makes for a great atmosphere. Try the gravy cocktail.
