Decent backstreet pub, normal people enjoying a pint (or a wine) after work. No vacuous hipsters, no pop-ups just beer at a decent price.

The Toll Gate in Turnpike lane. Recently sold by Spoons. New owners haven’t changed much bar putting in a darts board and a pool table. Means the place has remained cheap while managing to actually get better. Nice decor. Chill spot with great staff. I’m in a booth so hence the random pics. And the carpet is refreshingly twee.

It's a cheap and casual pub. However, the place doesn't seem very clean. The interior smells strongly of beer. I think the limited outdoor seating is better than the indoor seating.

If ever in the Wood Green, London area, be sure to stop by. We were in North London for just a couple of days and The Toll Gate was within walking distance. Jordan and his crew were really friendly, they made us feel so welcomed. The beer …

Classical pub with a great atmosphere…but a top of this place is a kitchen, chef is an absolute star, you can’t even compare to anything around.
Especially classical breakfast!
