Balans Soho Society - Ealing

Great new place for brunch in ealing. We had the eggs Benedict, which was pretty standard, and the kedgeree. The kedgeree is highly recommended, had a great taste with the haddock and was soft and easy to eat. We also had the warm doughnuts for dessert, but these tasted slightly frozen and were not worth the price paid for.

I recently went to Balans with my mother to celebrate a job offer, and we had a wonderful time. We had cocktails (not the cheapest around, but they made up for it in happy hour) which were delicious. So delicious that we decided to try out some food, which was equally as good. My mother had scallops and I had scampi - I reccomend both. All in all we had a lovely time; the staff were friendly and helpful, the food& drink was wonderful, and the atmosphere was welcoming.

Fond memories of Balans in Earls Court from central London days so was excited they opened in Dickens Yard. It’s a large restaurant with a lot of covers so a big gamble for them. The outside space is terrific. Tables well spaced and a pleasant area leading to a completely paved pedestrianised square. The menu is modern - small plates with modern fusion style cuisine full of spices and herbs. Interesting food and well executed. Decent wine list. What’s not to like. I love seeing places like Balans come into Ealing and raise the bar.

My wife and I went for a couple of coffee and the experience was fine as the staff was very kind. Nevertheless, the quality of coffee is not always constant, probably because of the high volume of people that the business receives. Overall, I can recommend this place as the staff is particularly friendly and attentive to details.

Nice addition to the Dickens yard ensemble. Light and airy, the venue works for a weekend brunch as well as it does for evening drinks. Had one great experience and one mediocre experience with service. But overall I recommend the place. Can get busy, which will mean you might wait longer than you'd like. Pancakes were really good. Porridge was okay, had to ask repeatedly for the syrup, spoon etc which was strange. Far, far better service than the bar (No 17) next door.

Love the cocktails! The options usually change with the season. The place has a great atmospheres, and quite a few tables outside. They are a bit squashed together, so when it's busy, chances are high that you'll have some random people in your face. They have a nice variety of food. Steak is pretty good. Burger can be a hit or miss. Usually it's all right, but every now and then the "medium" patty comes out a dry, burned mess. Service is good, but I wouldn't recommend eating there if you are in a hurry. It takes a while to get served, but the staff is nice.
