Chucs Cafe Chelsea

Almost but not quite. Chucs should have been great, but it was only good. The service was very spotty and actually no one waited on us unless we called them for service or requested certain items. The atmosphere was elevated and the food presentation was quite nice but when you have bad service, and lack of attention, it kind of makes the entire experience unpleasant.

I threw a dinner party for ten people on the terrace as the sun was setting and every aspect was perfection, from the way the fluted, unique glassware shined with the bottles in the light to the food itself: most of us began with the gazpacho and then had either a pasta or steak or salmon. Although guests arrived over the course of thirty minutes, the friendly waiters did not make any of us feel hurried at all. Nestled in the cozy couches full of pillows, I felt more at home than home, and ultimately felt I had hosted in a way which was much warmer and more attentive than any Mayfair club for a fraction of the price (really, 1/4 of the price.) This Chucs is going to be my default venue for such occasions from now on.

We had a lovely experience eating, having a beer and people watching in this little gem of a café-restaurant. It has a beautiful location opposite a peaceful leafy junction. You could sit for ages and take it all in. I actually left my phone behind and our lovely server Anna and her colleague Tzanin made sure to take care of it until it could be retrieved. Alejandro made us exceptionally welcome from the moment we arrived and took such good care of us. We visited on the recommendation of a TikTok video after trying to book every restaurant in London last minute. This place came highly recommended and it was absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere, the food, the service, all was perfect for a long overdue reunion of a couple of friends. The cocktails were perfect, the buratta with roasted pumpkin was just delicious…everything was just right. Our waiter Alejandro even remembered it was my birthday, which was a lovely touch, and throughout the evening really made us feel taken care of and didn’t rush us at all. Honestly a new favourite - we’ll definitely be back.

This place was simply divine. We were looking for somewhere to go for tea and the heavens opened just as we passed Chucs, forcing us inside. I would probably have walked on by as it looks a bit pricey. We sat out the front, under the awning which sheltered us from the downpour, with blankets to keep us warm. The mint tea and coffee were perfect, and the enormous pastries were delicious. Inside the cafe is so cosy and even the toilet was gorgeous. If I'm passing that way, I'm definitely popping back in.
