I went for a West Ham football game and stopped over at Burnt Umber, I had the best carbonara ever. Great staff.

After visiting Hackney Baths we went to Burnt Umber for some proper food as we were very hungry. We ordered English Breakfast, Ajvar Toast and Eggs Benedict and everything was impeccable: portioned well with nice presentation and followed with good size coffees.
Really recommend this place!

Popped in on our way to football. Great find. Tried a ‘true’ caramel macchiato which was excellent. Also ordered a full English and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Good quality ingredients and the scrambled eggs were moist and not dried out - exactly how I like them and as in fine dining establishments. Although I didn’t have my dog with me, was delighted that this place is dog friendly too. Parking in general in the area is not great. Staff were polite and friendly. If I had one criticism, the wi-fi isn’t great which would hamper me if visiting for a working lunch but otherwise I would highly recommend and I’ll be visiting again.

Found this amazing brunch spot while walking yesterday… and now we cannot wait to go back! The food was spectacular! Their staff is super welcoming and attentive. The space is beautiful; it’s the kind of place you can just enjoy your delicious meal and feel like you’re hidden away from the busy world outside. Loved everything about it!

Stumbled across this little gem on Saturday. Had a beautiful well presented English Breakfast, Although it was pricey it was absolutely worth it. The service from the staff was outstanding. I would highly recommend this place.
Seating area inside and out, even on a rainy day it was nice to sit outside. Its near the station and opposite a pub. Shame doesn't open later, as im sure dinner would be nice here too.

We’re visiting family nearby and have had yummy take-away morning coffee and pastries from here several times, as well as two sit down lunches. The staff is cheerful and friendly, and provides excellent service. Everything we’ve eaten has been delicious - chicken in a scrumptious mushroom sauce with a fresh light salad, perfectly roasted and seasoned vegetables, beef goulash with a bit of kick, roasted salmon, a kimchi pancake, fresh bread were all absolutely perfect. This place ranks among the best of the excellent restaurant meals we’ve enjoyed in two weeks in the area.

Lovely place to go for brunch. It has a cute little outside area at the back as well if you feel like a bit of air. You can also pop in to grab take out and some pastries, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend the pastries if you are a pastry fanatic.

The atmosphere and place are lovely. The staff are friendly and polite and they could not be more accommodating. All of the food and desserts are delicious. I love that my office is just a few doors away and that we can visit frequently to both the dine in and take out. We sometimes hold client and staff meets here and everyone is always equally pleased with all. *

I am a regular at Burnt Umber, and am always impressed with the superlative quality of the service and food. The restaurant is very close to Hackney wick overground, and so is very convenient for walks along the Lea.
