Captain Tom - Hornchurch

Stunning, I had Sardines to start and grilled middle skate for main. The wife had Prawn cocktail for starters and grilled sea bass fillets. Food delicious, well cooked and plentiful. Decor excellent and great back ground lounge music. Would highly recommend. Will he back soon. Don't mistake this for a fish and chip shop it's an excellent restaurant catering for all tastes and palates.

We were a bit disappointed to turn up and find Captain Tom's closed for refurbishment in June 2023. We got our chance to eat in again on 10th August 2023. I chose the grilled swordfish and it was extremely tasty and well presented. My dad was very happy with his traditional cod and chips. I'm looking forward to working my way through quite a bit of the menu in future visits. A very nice dining experience. Mmm !

Love this place! If you're eating in, the quality of food, and the portions you get for the money are well worth it. The service was prompt and friendly and they provided free samples too. Place is well decorated, comfortable spot. And if you're getting a takeaway, these are the freshest chips in Hornchurch.

Lovely food and lovely staff. You must visit this place. Top quality fish and chips but also everything else on the menu is delicious . The waitress provides the most genuine hospitality (the best I have come across in a very long while- she even held my baby so I could eat in peace ! ) and the inside of the restaurant is beautifully clean and well presented. Great for eat in & take away and for the quality you receive , very reasonably priced

A nice find in my local area. From the outside it looks like a normal chippy, but inside at the back is a really nice relaxing restaurant with an amazing selection on their grilled fish and seafood menu. Friendly and nice waitress (Jill?) was so much fun to talk to. We chose the squid and seafood stews served with a chunk of nice toast to dip into the stew sauce. I told them to better advertise their non “fish and chips” menu from outside the place - but apparently current disputes with nearby bullying competitors! Grossly unfair. Although some dishes are a little pricey, I would definitely return to Captain Tom. Flavours of the food and service are wonderful !
