The Herring Room

After looking at Manly as best we could, it was time to find an appropriate restaurant for our review. Of course, this must have been a seafood place. Pretty soon, the decision was made on "The Herring Room". The service was fantastic. Very accommodating and friendly with great recommendations, even though she took care of every table on her own. The food was really delicious. Now I have to say that we have been pretty disappointed in Sydney until now, but here the taste, the preparation was really perfect. In short, an excellent restaurant with excellent cuisine!

Tucked in away from the main beach but not too far away either. Sitting on a lang originally owned by the Guringai people, the oldest surviving continuous culture in the world. The Herring Room proudly list the provenance of all its seafood, selecting only the highest quality from sustainable & environmentally sensitive fisheries. All our seafood is sourced locally from Australia & New Zealand, & is matched w the best of local, seasonal & sustainable produce, supporting our wonderful Australian farmers & producers.

What an experience! Thank you so much The Herring Room for an amazing night. We ordered the seafood platter which was amazing! Huge serving jam packed with fresh flavours. The whole snapper in particular is a knock out dish. Super friendly, helpful staff and the maître d was dynamo (I didn’t catch your name but thank you for being so accommodating, warm and welcoming). The restaurant also has a great atmosphere and many people around us celebrating birthdays and made to feel special. Great night!

Hi Herring Room, Our anniversary dinner was simply the best!! You took great care of us and we knew you were down on staff, however nothing was going to stop you all making us feel comfortable and special. Our waitress "ROSE" was a knockout, knew her menu inside out! All of you were always smiling, happy and attentive, even though you were down on staff. The food was sublime, cocktails magnificent and wine choices sensational. We left the evening on an absolute high and rate you an eleven out of ten!! Thank you Adrian & Sue

Had a wonderful birthday experience at the Herring Room recently. Large group(10+) and we were allocated a separate room with a group menu that included a number of choices for entree, main course and dessert. The food and wine served were, without exception, excellent and we also enjoyed some fine wines from their wide selection. The service was outstanding and all the staff made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended.
