Doughnut Time

Two of us came to Doughnut Time on a Friday morning for some donuts! We were pleasantly surprised to find that the doughnut shop was open – even on Good Friday, when most stores, cafes and restaurants are closed due to the public holiday. We got one oreo and one jam donut, which were both vegan and incredibly sweet! Thank you for the very prompt customer service and delicious fresh donuts :)

Though I more of a spice and savoury person, I must admit that I do need my sugar rush once in a while. My colleagues took me to {Doughnut Time} for a post lunch Dessert fix, and it's quiet obvious that these guys serve the best doughnuts in CBD. The huge queues and people leaving the place with boxes of doughnut goodness, proves that. The flavours were interesting to start with, with even more interesting toppings like cookie dough, lego (I trust, they are edible). But what was more interesting was their choice of names for the big bad doughnuts. Meet The Mint Eastwood or would you care for a Vegan Fox. And I chose a date with Vegan Fox, which was a massive Chocolate glaze doughnut (which was vegan) topped with generous servings of freeze-dried strawberries with crushed pistachios scattered. The portion size was huge and was too much for one serving, unless you are greedy like me. I still recommend sharing it. Quick Summary - A wonderfully cooked doughnut with melt-in-your-mouth toppings is a joy to enjoy with your loved one(s). {Doughnut Time}, its going to take quiet a few visits to try out all the items on your menu, but I am not complaining, you are going to see me more in your long queue of customers.

The 'Liam Hemsworthy' used to be my favourite doughnut; I would go out of my way to regularly eat one, often multiple times a week. I don't know what they did to the recipe, but this is not the same doughnut. I disagree with the other comments calling it 'stale', but it is extremely dry and there's no 'red velvet' flavour to speak of despite the (practically neon) red colour. The cookie cream topping that I used to love is now a thick, overly-sweet paste that tastes of nothing. The biscuits on top are brittle and crumble into crumbs at the lightest touch, but at least they have a vaguely-chocolate taste. This is not worth paying for, but it's ESPECIALLY not worth paying $6.60 for. Avoid this place and go to the nearby Walker's Doughnuts (or Brunetti, if you just want something sweet) instead.

I've heard so much hype about this place, but it was a let down. The donuts are pricey, where they look flashy, are big and doughy, offer no quality or discerning taste, I got a donut and hot chocolate for $10, which is a little crazy. The hot chocolate was very sweet, but not practical, there was no way you could hold a donut, and drink the hot chocolate, and since it was dripping chocolate on the sides for effect, it made my hands sticky.
