Reasonably priced cosy little eatery, tucked away inside the mid-city arcade and with pleasant timely service. Ordered sushi bento, which was pretty good, but wasabi was not offered and brought only upon request. Whatever they provide as wasabi is definitely not it. There was no kick to it, and I suspect that this could be some kind of horse radish. To me, that was the only major letdown.

The chicken thighs were very fresh delivered this morning and chef gave you 2 pieces chicken thighs just because he saw two of you just ordered one lunch set. He’s actually very kind.😊About the sauce, it was the same as the first time we served you, sorry about that’s not enough for you. Our lunch set includes main dishes, fresh salad, miso soup, Japanese pickles, Japanese steamed rice. The price is reasonable. Anyway, we will do better in the future. Thanks for your support!” But the dish I ordered wasn’t shared for 2 people, I told the staff only myself was eating. So the chef didn’t need to add extra chicken as it was one person who ordered. - nevertheless that would mean that normally the dish would be smaller portion on what already is already a small serving. —based on my experience today I don’t agree that the price is reasonable and that sauce was def not the same one. as you can check with your wait-staff the meal I had was barely touched. We were 5 people there and order 3 of the 25 dollars Udon , 1 fried chicken curry and 1 eel rice.We ordered about 8:30pm and our food served on our table at 9:15pm something . But I’m between 8:30pm to 9pm got one Udon served to my friend . But something funny is these 3 Udon were the same dishes. Others 2 Udon served at 9.00pm-9.15pm something. I ordered a beer then waited 5-10 minutes for the waitress to give me a glass to actually drink it. A few minutes after ordering a second, she advised that they were about to close, then stood glaring at me, hurrying me to fishish. Why wouldn't you just warn me upon ordering? When going to pay, there were surprise fees. As I went to leave, I almost slipped over, as she had sprayed varnish or something all over the floor. What the hell? I mentioned the danger to her and she just laughed it off, in typical "I only speak English when it suits me" fashion. I could've slipped over and cracked my head, all for the sin of ordering food and drink at your restarant shortly before your closing time 🙀

I’ve been coming to Kaneda for over 20 years. It was delicious, affordable and dependable. Such a shock to visit this month and discover new owners, new menu, and way over priced food. Used to be tasty and fresh, but this is frozen microwave reheated food, that tasted wrong. I loved Kaneda .. cheap and cheerful and a busy friendly atmosphere. Now it’s just sad.
