$13.95 Lava Cake - either Chocolate or Mint Chocolate, with your favourite scoop of ice cream: biggest scam ever! First, it is made by microwave, ok if you are able to make a quality lava cake by microwave with your awesome secret recipe why not! Unfortunately the cake tastes exactly as my homemade microwave chocolate mug cake done by following a random recipe on YouTube. It is a spongy lightweight standard chocolate cake, absolutely not having the correct texture of a lava cake. Secondly, it is just a cake, without any lava, I mean, not even a drop. Third, I am not allowed to choose the flavor of the scoop of ice cream, if I opt for "Mint Chocolate Lava Cake". I finally understand why, because my husband's "Chocolate Lava Cake" and my "Mint Chocolate Lava Cake" are the exact same cakes, meaning there is no mint flavor in the cake itself; what makes it "mint" is the scoop of ice cream. The menu is intentionally deceptive. Lastly staff at this store are the extreme opposite of generous. Scoop size is obviously tiny compared to a lot of other ice cream shops around. Worst of all, the one making the "lava cake" today has to be re-educated about what customer service truly means. I can't even remember when I gave a one star on Google reviews last time. For $13.95, this is the biggest scam of dessert experience for as far as I can remember. Make your way to Lindt Café in Southbank and pay $12 for a high quality, correct Chocolate Fondant with a scoop of Lindt's White Chocolate Vanilla ice cream.

Ice cream was good but bad customer service. Asian lady behind counter was very rude. Said that she will accept cash only as her machine was down. I said ok will get cash from the atm right next to it. Upon this she said will only keep the shop open till you bring in cash, even though the shop closes at 9pm on Saturday and it was only 8:15pm when I ordered. Also just a few mins after that saw a big rat scuttering around which came out from under the counter and then went back in ! Was very scary and seems poor hygiene.

Movenpick is a really good ice cream brand. I always had great experience at movenpick ice cream outlets in many Australian cities. But this one at Melbourne Central has been very bad experience. The Asian lady at the counter has attitude issues. Reading through these reviews I am not the only one to think this way. And I am shocked that she still carries on the same way. I wonder why the owner is not doing anything about her. She doesn’t have any right to ruin someone’s day with her arrogant personality. Don’t like the job leave it.
