Is this place still open? If so where are they located? The old place off the midland loop next door to the Cinergy is closed and the new address it shows has nothing there. They had the best steaks I’ve ever had. Would like to have another one some time but no answer on phone and website doesn’t exist anymore. Ok

My friend and I came to Midland to get my driver’s license, and we decided that this would be a good place to stop for a bote to eat. By the time we got out the door and $30 later, we both regretted it... First of all, I don’t know if we came at a weird hour, but there was an eerie vibe. The servers were kind of keeping to themselves in a booth, one on the phone. Also some sketchy person kept coming in and out the restaurant, looking around and waiting suspiciously, only for one of the cooks to come out and lead him to the back room... Hmm. As for food, we had to pay for the chips, and the salsa bar, while looking rife with variety, was tasteless and likely came frozen. Then the food came (we ordered vegetarian tacos), and it was pretty boring and bland; rice and beans could be made at home. Overall, a regrettable experience. We were looking for real Mexican food. Our server was friendly and prompt, so that’s the only reason there’s an extra star.

Decided to try the puffy tacos due to the reviews online saying good things and it was worth it. The chips and queso are great, the chips were fresh, light and crispy. The queso comes in a large bowl with a topping of pico and an onion/jalapeno mix sauteed in. It is very rich with a slight Velveeta flavor. There is a salsa bar with traditional tomato salsa, tomatillo salsa and an avocado salsa that are all fresh and delicious although lacking salt. We got the brisket tacos and beef fajita tacos. Both came with beans and a lime rice pilaf. The beans and rice are really good, seasoned perfectly. The tacos are light and fresh, both types of meat are seasoned well with a topping of pico. The brisket tacos were packed with meat, the beef fajita tacos were a little sparse. The manager was very nice and accommodating with a young girl doing the serving. The server was adorable and attentive. The prices are reasonable and the place is clean. Overall this place is just flat out a win.

Pleasant dinner experience. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. As other reviews noted, they have guac in their condiment bar, but it was empty when I arrived and they never refilled it while I was there, so I didn't get to try it. I got the steak fajita salad, and it took about 20 minutes after my order for the food to come out, but I wasn't in any hurry. The steak was cooked to well-done - not a hint of pink. That was a bit disappointing, because it wasn't as tender as it could have been. However, it was seasoned perfectly and my salad didn't need much dressing. The salad itself was just lettuce, steak and pico de gallo - no other vegetables. I used some of the spicy salsa as dressing, as well, and it was delicious. It also came with a tortilla, which while flavorful, tasted like it hadn't been cooked quite all the way through.

Great Lunch! A bit pricey by my opinion, but you get lots of food. I had the brisket tacos, which are made with a great tortilla, I suppose it's a deep fried flour tortilla. It tastes sort of like a thin sopapilla (yum!). The brisket was perfectly smoked, and the seasonings were just right. The salsa bar had an avocado salsa, which is good on these tacos. The sides were overpowering though. I thought the beans were way over seasoned, and could have stood by themselves as a main dish. My opinion, beans as a side dish shouldn't overpower your entree. I wasn't that fond of the rice either, it was over seasoned too, my opinion. But, I didn't need those sides because of the great tacos! My suggestion, have a two taco lunch special without the beans and rice, maybe pair it with the avocado salsa, and offer at a lower price. I can't wait for this restaurant to come into it's own.
