Jade Dim Sum Restaurant

My family's location of choice for frozen dim sum in Mississauga! It's been a lifesaver during the pandemic, to keep dim sum stocked at home. (And of course, fresh hot dim sum is available too) Great quality and flavour. Highly recommend the following as frozen: the shrimp and pork siu mai, chicken feet, salt egg yolk bun, BBQ pork buns, beancurd rolls, shrimp and chive dumplings! For fresh hot take out: Beef balls, curry cuttlefish, stuffed eggplant, steamed mushroom with chicken, deep fried squid tentacles, chicken feet.

We have been here in the past and it was really good. Today we did some takeout and some frozen. The shrimp dumplings were fine, but the calamari tentacles were not even remotely close to how good they used to be....batter was definitely not right and maybe the oil was used too many times....not sure but for the first time we did not enjoy the experience.

Note: Due to #covid there is only take out right now. All day standard Dim Sum dishes in an inconspicuous location and facility which wholesales their products to many other Chinese restaurants. You can also buy Dim sum frozen to steam at home. Prices you will agree with, as most of the dishes are $2.99 and and others more but reasonable. You can purchase frozen Dim Sum to cook at home. Didn't preorder. Went to the store on a whim. Ordering was easy - filled in the order form and paid. Due to covid, waited in the car until they called me. It was mother's day, so maybe about 20-30 mins wait. Bought some frozen dim sum. Will go back for these, very convenient. I do miss the sit-in experience but this will do

Some dishes really great and some rather plain. Place was very clean and I do appreciate nice, clean surroundings and washroom. Ordered one item that wasn't on the dim sum menu and I do highly recommend you try it - it's the rice noodles with beef (not from the dim sum menu ...it's on the dinner menu as #9). And now, for the dim sum - BBQ pork Cheung fun was really good. Lots of tender, moist char su pork inside .. just pour the soya sauce that's on the table over it for a real treat. Sticky rice in lotus leaf was basic and ok but lackluster. Shrimp in wonton wraps had a generous, tasty shrimp inside but wrap was just too greasy to eat more than one piece. Fried turnip/radish cake was bland and really goppy inside (they need to learn how to make them from Yimin Dim Sum in Ottawa). Beef short ribs with pepper were tasty but felt they could have been so much more if they had instead been served in a black bean sauce. Over all though, everything was hot, fresh and of good quality. I just found some dishes a bit bland but will definitely be back. Next time I will try the chickens feet and har gow. Price was very reasonable and staff seemed genuinely engaging. Yes I will be back!
