Peyton's Place

Another hidden local place with food so good they only need to be open from 11am to 2pm each day. The "meat and three" menu changes each day and they post it on Facebook. The fried green tomatoes are on the menu most days and are the best in town. The poppyseed chicken casserole, fried chicken breast and meatloaf are all very good. There is also a standing menu that never changes. The hamburgers and club sandwich are very good, and so are the fries. Service is friendly and super fast.

Went into Peyton's Place for the first time and was amazed! Very busy and found out it's only open from 11:00 till 2:00. I'm posting pics of the menu for everybody to see. I didn't eat here but I want to, it looks good. I like that you can choose 4 sides and make up a "vegetarian meal", that's so wonderful! Prices reasonable, too. Check out the menu I took pictures of. It looks like their options change up daily.

I'm a country fried steak connoisseur-it's my go to dish. So when I saw it on the menu I got hyped. But I always temper my expectations by asking if it's prepared fresh from scratch or frozen, since I don't go out to eat frozen food. The waitress assured me it was freshly made & proceeded to bring out a flat, processed patty drowned in bland white gravy. If the deception wasn't bad enough, the taste was a slap in the face! Everything was flavorless & needed salt or herbs & spices. Since my MIL enjoyed the bland food, I didn't send anything back. The fake steak, field peas, mashed potatoes, chicken wings - they had NO flavor. My nieces were laughing at how often I grabbed the salt & pepper shakers. The only reason they don't get the worst rating is how speedy the service was: it took 5 mins for a table of 4 to get our food. And paradoxically enough their banana pudding is the best around! They should have whoever does the pudding do all the cooking, because today was sadly unimpressive. 3 of 4 people disliked the food, and 2 were first time patrons...Not good. They also need jalapeno cornbread, even though theirs reminds me of Jiffy mix.
